Victoria’s Picks For Winter Boots

via Bird is the Word

Picture this: a half-mile walk through two feet of snow in -20 degrees wearing ballet flats. Unfortunately, this was a reality for me last year during one of the coldest winters in Illinois history. During the winter, I often find myself defaulting to the same pair of boots every day. My other shoes are either too skimpy (read: aforementioned ballet flats) or they are made of a high-quality material that would be ruined by snow. It’s difficult to find winter boots that aren’t ugly, versatile to be worn with a variety of outfits, and won’t break the bank.

I’m on the lookout for the perfect pair this winter to add to my arsenal of winter shoes, and I thought I would share some of my favorites with you. Don’t forget to throw on your favorite pair of wool socks with these boots too!

Dress your cut-offs up with a button-down collared shirt or a sweater. If you’re trying to go for an edgier look, pair them with a leather jacket, some booties and a beanie. For a bohemian look, pair your cut-offs and tights with some fringe and knee-high boots. If you’re trying to be more casual, cut-off shorts and tights (whether they are patterned, sheer or solid) are a definite must have this season!

Halloween Candy You Should Try To Avoid

via Food Gatherers

For kids, Halloween means candy, more candy, and even more candy. I remember (back in the day) when my sisters and I would go door to door in our costumes asking for candy. By the end of the festivities, we would dump our sweet goodies out on the floor to see what we had collected. As someone who loves sweets and chocolate, I was always excited to get Flavored Tootsie Rolls and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups! Although I haven’t gone trick or treating in years, I still indulge in some Halloween candy. In no particular order, here is a list of some of the worst Halloween candies. So if you plan on binge eating this Halloween, I’d try to steer clear from these treats!

1. Candy Corn

Some love it and some hate. I love it! Dentists, not so much. These things are loaded with sugar and artificial coloring and flavors. It’s also really bad for your teeth.

2. Snickers

These suckers are bad for your teeth, especially since the caramel can get stuck between your teeth causing cavities. These bars also contain 27 grams of sugar.

3. Fun Dip

A white stick of sugar that you dip into more sugar—it’s no surprise that Fun Dip is one of the the worst Halloween candies.
