Lovelyish List: Holiday Traditions

via The Tomkat Studio

With Hanukkah about to end and Christmas being tomorrow, some of the Lovelyish team wanted to share our favorite holiday traditions - whether it's something we always look forward to or a favorite memory we have from the holidays!

Eugenia: I love attending the candlelight Christmas Eve service at a local church near my parents home in Orlando when I'm in Florida for the holidays. The church is decorated beautifully with Christmas trees and poinsettias and the program always features my favorite Christmas songs and hymns. The service is always heartwarming and fun and filled with families. I usually attend with my immediate family but now that I have my own family I plan on taking them as well to continue the tradition.

Sonia: My family and I celebrate Hanukkah and since it is eight days long we usually just spend the Friday night together. My extended family is huge, (on one side I have about 35 people and the other about 30 people) so we just have a huge meal, light the candles and just spend quality time together, which is the most amazing part of holidays. I normally don't really get presents but my grandparents always like to give their grandkids some money to spend on their own!

Movies to See in Theaters During the Holidays!

With the holidays in full effect, it's a great time to take a break from everything. What better way to relax than to go to the movies. Every Christmas Day my family and I go to the movies. It's become a tradition over the years and something I look forward to. This year we're going to see Into the Woods but there's plenty of other options to choose from - some that release Christmas Day or others that have been in theaters. There's definitely something for everyone. From musicals to a war drama to a dystopian world - check out some movies to see during the holidays!

Unbroken is an American war drama produced and directed by Angelina Jolie. The film is based on the nonfiction book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption about the life of USA Olympic athlete Louis "Louie" Zamperini, which includes his imprisonment in various Japanese war camps. The movie stars up and coming actor who is well-known in Britain, Jack O'Connell. This movie seems like it will be action packed!

Into the Woods is a musical film based on the award-winning Broadway musical of the same title. The film features at ensemble cast that's sure to impress - Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, and Johnny Depp. The film focuses on a couple who sets out to end the curse that an evil witch placed on them. The musical features stories from Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel. I'm a huge fan of Anna Kendrick so I can't wait to see this movie on Christmas Day!

Trend Alert: Ear Cuffs

via The Trend Assistant

The ear cuff trend has been around for quite some time now. When it first appeared on the fashion scene I was pretty skeptical about it. I thought it was a bit tacky and too flashy for the ear but the style has definitely grown on me. I don't think I have the guts to rock one confidently but it's a trend that's constantly growing on me. From the more outrageous to the more modest style, here are a few ear cuff styles to get you inspired!

Allison's Winter Handbag Wishlist

via The Fancy

I never like to switch out my bags too often, but when winter rolls around I like to switch up my handbag with a different color or pattern. Here are a few handbags that I definitely wouldn't mind toting around this winter (like this Clare V. leopard clutch above)...

6 Gift Exchange Ideas To Try This Holiday Season

via DesignLoveFest

The holiday season can be a very stressful time, especially when you’re trying to figure out what to get your family. For me, it’s extremely difficult. With so many relatives to buy gifts for, I barely have enough money left to spend on my cousins and sisters. In the past years, my cousins, sisters, and I have done gift exchanges so that we each only have to purchase one gift. It’s definitely the way to go if you have a lot of people to get presents for and is a money saver! Check out a few gift exchange ideas if you’re on a low budget for the holidays!

Secret Santa

Names are placed in a hat and each participant draws a name out of the hat. Whosever name they draw is the person they're is getting a gift for. There's usually a strict spending limit so that people don't go overboard. Each person may write a short wishlist of items to their "secret santa" with their name submission to make it easier for the gift giver. This is what I usually do with my cousins and sisters since we range from ages 9-25.

Allison's Beauty Essentials For Working Retail During The Holidays

Working retail during the holidays can be rough—long hours on your feet, heavy lifting, and missing out on holiday plans with friends and family are just a few things that especially drive me crazy. The last thing that I want to worry about is whether or not I need to touch-up in the mirror or if the dark circles under my eyes are really that noticeable. After a few years, I've compiled some of my work beauty must-haves that I always have in tow when I'm working a long shift...
