Have you heard of this trend? Lately, a lot of bloggers I follow have been throwing out their products to embrace this trend of “quitting” shampoo. I couldn’t imagine not washing my hair every two days—the concept seemed so gross to me. But these bloggers have shared picture after picture of their hair looking healthier than ever… more volume, shine and wave. But what exactly does it mean to go without shampoo and is it actually healthy? I found that many of my misconceptions about this trend was wrong, and wanted to share my findings.

Myth #1: Going without shampoo means you never wash your hair.
The name “no shampoo” or “no poo” can be misleading. This trend definitely isn’t advocating for everyone to not wash their hair anymore. Instead, most people use a mixture of baking soda and water instead of shampoo. Others use honey or different oils to wash their hair. They definitely use these mixtures less, but most of my research found people use them about once a week (a major difference from every other day!)
