I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again: the DC heat and humidity is beyond brutal. As much as I wish I could spend a summer night on a quaint porch reading, or with the windows thrown open to invite in the summer breeze, the reality is that it’s just too hot. AC can only go so far — sitting inside as a cooled-off hermit just isn’t how I envisioned my summer going. Check out the eight ways I’ve cooled off this summer!

While this may seem like a wintertime tip, I promise, it’s the key to staying cool in the summer! I walk to work, so I really build up a sweat and intense body heat before I hit the Madewell selling floor. The best way I’ve found to combat a gross (and uncomfortable) smell throughout the day is to layer, layer, layer. Stick your blouse, nicer shirt, or cardigan in your tote, and try to just wear a little tank or a lightweight dress on your commute. That way, when you hit the cold AC of your workplace, you have some fresh items to throw on!

Shorten the hems on your short, invest in some adorable minis, and cut up your tanks. Sometimes summer clothes don’t even let your skin and body breathe as much as it craves. Plus, you can show off your beautiful Free People intimates with more revealing clothing!
