  • Lana Del Rey's "Video Games" Gets Hunger Games, Country Makeovers

Lana Del Rey has been the subject of copious amounts of praise and controversy lately, holding a best-selling album that came out on the heels of a terrible Saturday Night Live performance. Love her or not, Del Rey's music has had a cultural impact, especially the song "Video Games." Check out two covers of the tune after the cut, and weigh in on how you think they compare to the original!

This first song is a Hunger Games-themed version of "Video Games," and the lyrics are certainly clever (and funny). The creators even managed to get the vintage feel of Lana's music video while intermixing shots from THG movie.  Some language is NSFW, but the entire thing is definitely SFF (safe for fun).

Next up is a more serious, but just as interesting, cover of the tune. Musician Ell Hayche gives a no-frills, vaguely Taylor Swift/country-sounding YouTube performance of it. Ell has become an Internet mini-sensation, with lots of people saying she does Lana better than Lana. What do you think?

While I enjoy Lana's sultry original, I definitely have Ell's version bookmarked. And I'm sure you can already tell that I think the first video is brilliant.

What do you think of the new versions of "Video Games?"
