  • Nail Trends: Nail Stamping

All of my nail designs up until this point have been freehand. I remember the early days of lurking the Internet for nail art ideas and being confused by these incredibly elaborate designs wondering how on earth someone could put that on their fingers. Nail stamping has started to become increasingly popular for its simplicity and its ability to create uniquely awesome manicures at home.

After doing some light research, I found that Konad leads the way with this new trend. Plus, there are SO MANY image plates to choose from, it's almost overwhelming. To get started, you need a stamper and a scraper, an image plate holder and nail plates (which run between $4-$7 online). I can already tell that I'm going to start spending a lot more time online shopping for different nail plates. I'm assuming it takes a little bit of practice to truly perfect the skills, but I'm pretty sure I'm up to the challenge.

Nail stamping gives you the opportunity to create intricate patterns and specific textures that are nearly impossible to create the old fashioned way. Plus, it gives salon quality designs for way less money.

Have you ever used nail plates? If so, where did you get them and what kinds of designs did you try? Is there a special nail polish you have to use? How was it in terms of difficulty? Are there certain brands of polish that work better as a base?

wow you are an amazing nail artist. my cousin owns a nail salon where she also free hands the arts on the nails. i gotta say, it ain't easy, you've gotta have natural skills for this.

    I love this!!

If I could stop biting my nails, (such a bad habit)  I'd DEF do this. I could do it to my toenails...but I feel like no one looks at my toenails, except maybe in the summertime.

Thanks for posting, maybe I'll try something like this in the summertime for my toes at least.

i brought my plates a long time ago while on vacation. If people are interested you could find them on ebay.

I find it kind of hard to do it. I love to do my nails and I like to have them perfect so I get irrated when the design doesn't get all completely over the nail. But the end result is wonderful so I always make sure that I'll have enough time/patient to do it and that I have an excellent top coat to protect my work

this nail stamping trend is pretty old ! like 4+ years old.
I have this kit myself.  Works best if you use those nail polish that dries fast.
Dont use a liquidy nail polish when you scrape it, all of it goes off the plate
& dont wait until it completely dried either lol

    Just a tip:

I first found out about the Konad products early last year, & did a lot of looking around online to see if they were worth the fuss. Also, I wanted to make sure that I'd be getting my money's worth (as at the time I was on a tighter budget). After a lot of "research"....sifting through products reviews, comparing prices, etc...I bought the double ended stamper & scraper (together) on Amazon, & bought a set of 25 nail plates from MASH....instead of paying a similar/higher price for an individual Konad image plate, or a kit of the Konad image plates.I will say...I've used it off & on for the last year, & I love it. It's not necessary to use the specific nail polish they pitch (to be used with the image plates)....but you do need to make sure you use a polish that is slightly thicker, & has a higher strength pigmentation to it. Also, keep in mind when you're using it, (once you scrape the polish over the stencil) you need to work quickly...a thin layer of polish means that it will dry pretty quickly.All-in-all, these are definitely worth trying (& can be a ton of fun)...just make sure you look around to get your money's worth, as you don't have to just go with the brand/price from Konad.Have fun!
