Help A Lovely: How To Choose/Wear A Statement Necklace
I'm super picky about my jewelry and I always convince myself out of buying something, even if I like it, because I worry that I won't know how to wear it. I've always worn pearls, so I'm definitely wanting a chunkier/more statement make pearl necklace, but also something with color or something for a different look. I don't wear silver at all, but I love different shades of gold. Halp?
Picking and wearing statement jewelry can be tricky, but it doesn't have to be hard. Obviously, this lovely knows what she wants; it's just a matter of finding it and learning how to wear it without the necklace feeling foreign in your wardrobe. Here are a few suggestions, and how to wear them.Sabine Three Circle Pendant, $22.00 from Piperlime
I love this necklace -- it's a statement piece, but still simple and easy to add to any wardrobe. I think it would look great with a plain white v-neck tee and jeans, or with an LBD and boots for a night out. Plus, I love the different shades of gold that are incorporated one necklace -- it's easier to pair with other metallics (such as bronze or gold heels) this way!
Elizabeth Necklace, $29.40 from 6pm.com
This mimics the classic round shape of pearls, but is colorful and a little more fun. Plus, it has a series of gold chains, which are really pretty. The best part about this necklace is that it retains the dainty quality pearls have, which is really pretty for more feminine outfits. This would look awesome paired with a plain white button up and a pencil skirt for an easy, professional outfit. It would also be great paired with a navy cardigan and your favorite jeans.Delicate Chains Layering Necklace, $34.00 from Urban Outfitters
This is another really simple, colorful necklace that is still eye-catching. And again - it incorporates different shades of gold. The simplicity of this necklace means that it can be worn with pretty much anything -- paired with an LBD for a date, with your sparkly mini skirt and heels for a night out or with your plain white tee and jeans for a lunch with friends or family gathering.
When it comes to incorporating jewelry into your wardrobe, it's good to know what you want. When you first start to wear new pieces, pick simpler outfits that you know look great on you. Your favorite LBD or those jeans you know you look great in will be the perfect addition to any new piece of jewelry. And the more confident you feel wearing that new piece, the more you'll be able to incorporate it into your wardrobe.
Lovelies, what do you think? How do you shop for jewelry? How do you choose the perfect statement pieces?

Jewelry is almost always an impulse buy for me. I don't have a rationale or plan for buying it, unless I know I am buying it for a special occasion or a purpose. My deepest thought when it comes to buying jewelry is OMFG that is so cute and it won't make me homeless if I buy it..YAY!
That's so weird. I don't wear gold at all. I only wear silver. XP
I shop for jewellery almost exclusively through Etsy.com since they have such variety.
I don't really like any of the necklaces posted here. I don't see any of them except the second as really being statement pieces. Here are a few pieces that came up from an Etsy search:

My God, now I'm going to wind up spending all day looking through that link. DAMN IT, ETSY.
And the search results for "statement necklace" (without a price restriction, for the ones above I went no higher than 40ish): http://www.etsy.com/search/handmade?ref=auto&q=statement+necklace&view_type=gallery&ship_to=CA
I know that the necklace is right for me when I hold it and it makes me smile. I don't wear jewelry much so if I'm going to wear it I've got to love it. My favorites 2 are the following: my necklace with a little gold squirrel on it and a necklace with a big very strange looking silver key.
I'm known for my giant collection of statement necklaces. It's at the point now where I feel naked without one! But some are definitely bigger/chunkier/louder than others. It is possible to ease yourself into though. I suggest starting with pendants because they are eye-catching but still fun and whimsical. Lockets or ones with a small handful of cute charms are great. I love ones with owls =)
That second one (pink) is so cute!
