Here's a great way to cheat if you suck at applying nail polish -- slap on the glitter!
It's a trick that I've been using for years to mask my untidy application but too much glitter can seem tacky and juvenile.
Instead, I attempted this
Lilac & Gold glitter gradient.

- For the base color, I used two coats of this sheer lilac shade (from Color Combos) with fine gold glitter
- Then, I concentrated the Anna Sui Nail Color in 802 on the tips of the nail, dragging the glitter halfway down towards the the cuticle
- After that, I applied another coat of the base color over the glitter to blend
- Finally, I applied top coat from The Face Shop
You simply can't go wrong with this method even though you're known to paint on streaks.

I honestly don't see how adding glitter can make a messy job look better. If anything it tends to look even globbier. Working with glitter is tedious.
I dont really like it, but that's just me
I would try this! :)
I agree that this won't help make a messy job look any better, but I do like the top picture so I would give this a shot.
I love this style. I tried it before, and it didn't blend well :(
i do something similar too instead, i use the glitter all over my nail instead of the tips bc i keep my nails really short and there's barely any tips on my nails.
i like the colors. i think i might do something glittery with my nails for christmas. :)
I prefer not to do the gradient thing. It's too easy to mess up, and I don't really do nail art of any sort... not my thing I guess. I love glitter, though, and I don't think it looks tacky if you apply it neatly.
