  • Beauty Review: Scentsy Solid Perfume

I recently had the pleasure of being introduced to Scentsy's latest endeavor in its mission to make the world a better smelling place, their new solid perfume sticks. Scentsy has a long history of making rooms smell yummy with creative solutions to eliminate the typical fire hazard of candles and oil burners. Now you can take the smell-good with you in the form of a perfume stick in some of Scentsy's most popular fragrances.

To really get an idea of how the perfume sticks wear over the course of a day, I enlisted the help of my friend Dave, a long-time Scentsy Warmer fan, to try it, too. He wore the "Simply Irresistible" scent, described by Scentsy as "lavender with a strong, woody background of amber, moss, and musk," which is a decidedly lovely scent for a male, and I wore "Satin Sheets," described as "sensual and earthy sandalwood, perfectly paired with rich, warm vanilla." My boyfriend drove a car with the two of us in it all day and didn't complain that the scents were overpowering in the least.

My own experience was that I probably put on too much at first. I love vanilla scents, so I was super excited and I think I overdid it. After washing my hands and letting just the bit on my neck speak for itself, I felt like I smelled pretty, feminine, and very different from having used a spray perfume. There's something about how the application of this stuff agrees with your skin. It sinks in and becomes very natural. I also noticed that the stick itself has a smell, kind of waxy, so it's best applied very sparingly (which is great; the stick will last forever!).

Dave smelled fabulous. I would highly recommend the "Simply Irresistible" scent for your man. It's sweet, deep and masculine, but not overpowering. The waxy smell doesn't come through as much because there's just so much going on in this scent. It was definitely my favorite. I used it myself one day and I liked it on me, too, but it is decidedly richer. A girl could totally get away with it, but be prepared to make an impression.

As fragrances go, I'd have to say Scentsy Solid Perfume sticks are a home run. They're easy to apply, easy to carry, the packaging is really charming (I'm a sucker for that), and they last all day. Here's a run-down of all the scents they're offering:

    ·         Love Story: Innocent pink jasmine and sensual amber embraced by luscious dark chocolate

    ·         Satin Sheets: Sensual and earthy sandalwood, perfectly paired with rich, warm vanilla

    ·         Enchanted Mist: Romantic blend of juicy apples, enhanced and sweetened by rose petals and rich jasmine

    ·         Simply Irresistible: Lavender with a strong, woody background of amber, moss, and musk

    ·         My Wish: A confection of earthy fig, sweet violet, and playful marshmallow will have you wishing for more

I'd encourage anyone to stick their nose into these and pick their favorites. And at $18, they're a cheap thrill. They'd make a great stocking stuffer, too!

To get your own Scentsy perfumes and other products, we encourage you to find one of Scentsy's over 120,000 consultants by visiting Scentsy.net and entering your info into their consultant locator. Enjoy!

Has anyone else given this stuff or any other solid perfumes a whirl? Thoughts?
