  • 5 Excellent Last-Minute Halloween Costumes

Got an eleventh hour invite to a Halloween party? Don't let lack of prep time stop you from heading out with a bangin' costume! These five ideas are classics and easy to off in a hurry so you look as though you spent all day slaving over a sewing machine. Best of all -- no lingerie needed.

    1. Flapper Throw on any tiered or ruffled dress you have and pair it with pearls, black pumps and red lipstick. You'll look like you just stepped right out of the Jazz Age! Take the look even further with white elbow-length gloves or a sparkly headband, but only if you can find them somewhere in the back of your closet!

    2. A cat Just about every girl has spent a Halloween frisking around as feline and the look may be easily recreated in a crunch. Wear all black clothes -- you can chose whether you want to wear a dress or jeans and a top -- throw on a pair of black shoes, a tail and ears and you're ready meow! Luckily a cat is a very popular costume so even if you don't have ears or a tail at home, you are almost guaranteed to find them at you local grocery store, pharmacy or borrow 'em from a bud. Lastly, play up the look by winging out your eye liner, drawing on a little kitten nose and using your eyeliner to sketch a few whiskers on your cheeks.

    3. A witch Another classic, but always a good choice. Chances are, you or someone at your apartment or in your building already owns a witch hat. But if not, it is another easily-found accessory like those for the above idea. A witch can really go anyway you'd like -- a black dress and stripped tights are just one option. As with a cat, being a witch gives you a chance to have some fun with your makeup. Try to add a faux mole for fun!

    4. Joel Goodsen (Tom Cruise) from Risky Business This is one of my all-time favorite costumes, especially on a girl. It's also probably the easiest to pull off. Borrow a white dress shirt from your brother, father, boyfriend, cousin -- it's Dude Code or something that all of them own one. Pair it with tube socks and black shades and voila! Be warned, though: I would advise wearing a pair of shorts under the shirt, no one likes a wardrobe malfunction.

    5. Alex Owens (Jennifer Beals) from Flashdance Pull out your comfiest grey sweatshirt, cut the neckline so it falls off one shoulder, layer it over leggings and a pair of leg warmers. Next, just tease your hair, throw on a sweatband if you have one and you are ready to dance the night away!

What are you dressing as this Halloween? Have you worn any of these costumes before?
