Denmark may be regarded for
some pretty cool statistics, but high rates in obesity ain't among them. However, in an effort to boost healthy eating habits in the Scandinavian country, officials have announced a tax on foods high in saturated fat.
Each kilogram of saturated fat rings up an extra 16 Kroner (about $3 USD). Ole Linnet Juul, food director at Denmark’s Confederation of Industries,
told The Washington Post taxes will increase the pricetag of a burger by about $0.15 while the price of a small package of butter jumps by $0.40.
