Just when I was beginning to gleefully, guiltlessly reject the whole "hard-work-is-the-other-road-to-results" theory,
this happens: Reebok International Ltd. is ordered to pay $25 million to customers for false claims that their
EasyTone line can decrease its wearer's junk in the trunk.
Federal Trade Commission grew all too suspicious of Reebok's wobbly, slightly-spherical design's magical capabilities and thought to call them out. You probably remember that EasyTone's advertising
trumpeted its wear resulting in leg and tush strengthening, an allegation that wasn't supported by, you know, scientific proof.
In addition to the whopping fine, the company's settlement with FTC included a stipulation forbidding future claims regarding a shoe's quality that isn't back by that scientific proof stuff on which we just touched. A bummer day for EasyToners worldwide, indeed. [via

Did people actually believe this crap? You don't need proof to know that it's bogus.
I believe that any actual results gotten from any of those types of shoes is because a person finally gets off the computer and goes for a walk.

At least we know that you can still make easy money through frivolous lawsuits. I guess weight loss/toning really is the only thing you can't cheat on!
I used to use these shoes on the treadmill and I only saw a difference in my calves.

Can you say gulliable? Anyone that bought into the whole "easy tone easily slims your body" deserved to get ripped off. Weight loss doesn't come easy. lolz

@katethoughts@xanga - I bought them too because they were on sale and the original MBT shoes are too expensive. I think it helps if you have knee problems, but it's not designed to get you in shape.
I already knew they were fake. I tried them on in the store once and walked around and didn't feel any difference.
My mom wears the shape-ups from sketchers. Same idea and it also does nothing to help tone or sculpt any muscles in the legs or butt. She seems to love them, they do help here with her posture even if they don't help her lose weight. I never bought the lies, I understand why people might think they help because they help you stand up straighter and thus makes you look thinner because you're not slouching, giving yourself a fake tummy.
at least the easy tone whatevers aren't as fucking ugly as shape ups. you wouldn't catch me dead in either of those things. i can be caught, however, walking lunging and running my way to better legs, which is the REAL way to get results. face it, anything that seems too good to be true, probably is. including a pair of sneakers that magically tighten your ass without you dropping any sweat for it. -shakes head- my number one rule when it comes to purchasing is to NOT BELIEVE THE ADS.
oh the world of false advertisement.. people are desperate to make money however way they can.. tsk tsk.. i already knew it was too good to be true..
so what about their clothes? are they going to give refunds on that too?

I like shoes like these, they're sooo comfy with that extra padding on the bottom, it makes my ankles/knees not hurt (my joints suck), and maybe it's all in my head but I feel like my legs do get a tiny bit of a working from them. not enough to notice a huge difference...but hey they can't hurt !
