3 Embarrassing Songs That Were Once My Ringtone
Ah, high school. Four glorious years of pep rallies, Hollister t-shirts, and of course, my pink Motorola Razr. I loved that phone like it was my small, electronic child and no ordinary ringtone would do. I was the download queen, and had a new ringtone every other week, most of which were pretty annoying. Now that I'm older and slightly wiser, my current phone is almost always on vibrate, and if I do use a ringtone, it's usually the standard iPhone ding! But I'm always down for reminiscing, so I thought I'd share the three most embarrassing songs that were once my ringtone.
1) Hips Don't Lie by Shakira (from the album Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 from Amazon): You guys, what possessed me to download this song? And then turn it into my ringtone? I mean, I love Shakira, but I really didn't need to hear her blaring from my phone 10 times a day. I can't even imagine how annoying this was for my family to hear this randomly throughout the house. Sorry, mom and dad! Sophomore year of high school was awkward.
2) Sugar We're Going Down by Fall Out Boy (from the album From Under the Cork Tree from Amazon): Another questionable choice. This time, I think using this song as a ringtone was a result of a crush I had on a boy who LOVED Fall Out Boy. Ladies, never fake an interest in something just to get a man. It'll cause you to download annoying songs and then turn them into even more annoying ringtones. Trust me.

3) Bossy by Kelis (from the album Kelis was Here from Amazon): This song is probably the most embarrassing of the bunch. I remember hearing this song on the radio while cruising around in my Saturn, and immediately using it as a ringtone. Did I think I was too cool for school? Yes, yes I did. I'll never forget that my phone rang once while I was in class (awkward!) and this was the song that played. My Spanish teacher was not too happy. But hey, at least it wasn't that "Milkshake" song.
Have you ever had an embarrassing song as your ringtone?

I don't think the FOB song is embarrassing. Everyone liked that particular song at some point in their lives. But I can't say the same for the other two. lol
Gee... I really want to listen to those three songs, now. x___x hahaha
ive had FOB and the bossy song too XD
lovee it. not embarrassing at all :)
Milkshake - Kelis.
Nyan Cat song.
None of these are embarrassing.
@brosephine@xanga - I actually have that on my phone. It's my "Don't answer me!" ringer.
My dad once recorded himself screaming and made it into my ringtone without telling me. I walked into my first day of work and, naturally, my phone went off.
I've had the same ringtone for 4 years. "Leva's Polkaa" - Loituma, DJ Flatline hardcore mix. I had this as soon as I had as phone capable of using custom ringtones. Still using it to this day, and refuse to change it. I've changed phones and even numbers but the ringtone has stayed the same.
I just choose one of the about 2 dozen pre-installed default ringtones. my current one sounds like some retro porn disco beat
@ramblingsthatrhyme@xanga - That's hilarious lmao.
Dude, Sugar We're Goin' Down was the shit. It's still a really great song. I might be biased because Pete Wentz was one of my favorite lyricists back in 2004/05, but still. Their music got me through a lot of pain and suffering. I feel indebted to FOB back in the Take This To Your Grave/From Under the Cork Tree days.
I totally had Bossy as my ringtone, too!!
God I hate Fall Out Boy..
These aren't embarassing.
I purposely put weird ringtones because I'm a sick cunt. LOL
I had barbie girl [rock cover] and milkshake [rock cover]
Then I had the candy mountain song from Charlie the Unicorn.
I don't get embarrassed easily.
Lol I had the Fall Out Boy song on my phone at one point in time. It was probably 9th grade or so. I think one of the first ringtones I ever had was the Inspector Gadget theme song. Then after that I had "Freaky Girl" by Gucci Mane. Bahahaha
That song by FOB is amazing. Bossy was pretty awesome as well.
The only one that is kind of embarrassing as far as I'm concerned is Shakira..but I don't really care for her anyway.
@PsychedelicaMF@xanga - OMG! I want the Candy Mountain SONG! :D :D
My most embarassing was "I Kissed A Girl" by Katy Perry. Ugh, it was the hit song at the time, but I really didn't get how crazy it was to have it as my ringtone.
...for the record, I have NOT and will NOT kiss a girl. Haha. :P
I had the entrance theme for WWE's The Miz as my ringtone previously and once I forgot to switch to silent mode when I'm at work. So in the middle of a meeting my phone rang and it sang "Awesome~I came to play…"
I almost died immediately.
I always had the Nextel ringtones... the ones that come with the phone.
Besides that, I've only had "Dance, dance, dance" by Lykke Li... and I recently changed it to "Moby Dick" by Led Zeppelin. It scares me SO MUCH when it rings that I actually answer the phone now (something I never did before because "Dance, dance, dance" is so calm and soothing haha).
i don't find it too embarrassing really, but i had "scotty doesn't know" as my ringtone at some point. ahah.
Strong Bad Techno.
Now it's just my alarm clock sound.
I didn't even have these ring tones...nor was I embarrassed that much about my choices. Most of it was game music or asian artists.
Down Hill From Here by New Found Glory
U.uHonkey Tonk Badonkadonk by Trace Atkins. Yeahhhh...
Mine as been the chorus from Take On Me since I first got a phone that could support ring tones. Which was about 9 years ago. And it still has never changed.
I only use the ones that come on the phone. I'm not paying for a ringtone. It's about as much as a song on iTunes. And I'd rather keep the money to buy the actual song than buy the 20 second version of it.
