Doesn't it seem like just yesterday when we were wondering whether
Selena Gomez and
Justin Bieber were, you know,
doing it. Now it seems like the young couple's constant PDA has gotten Justin's mom worried enough to have a talk with them!
Pregnancy rumors concerning the couple first began after Selena was
hospitalized in early June. Both stars were born to teenage parents, so teen pregnancy must hit close to home for their families. According to an insider:
Everyone knows their intentions are good, but they also know how easy it is to get worked up when you're young and in love. It would only take a few moments of weakness to cause what could be a lifetime of regret."
It makes sense that the families are concerned about Selena and Justin practicing safe sex. Not only are the two very young, but they are still establishing their careers. Last month a source close to the Gomez camp
told OK!:
[Selena] and Justin are having an intimate relationship, but she’s not going to let herself get pregnant. She definitely loves kids and could see herself having Justin’s baby one day. But it’s not going to be right now. Her career is too important. Selena’s just breaking out and really starting to come into her own.
What do you Lovelies think would happen to their careers if Selena and Justin got pregnant? Is this too much too soon?

Honestly, I think America would continue to be up their asses and each and every step of the baby's life. What would happen to Selena and Justin? It would make them even more famous because obv they have plenty of money, but it would send a bad message --- that teenage pregnancy is okay.
Selena probably wouldn't be on Disney anymore, but Hollywood is hungry for fame and she'd probably get hired right away.
I think it's a good talk to have. Ignorant parents are always the ones that end up with teenage parents as children. I'm glad she sat them down and was basically like, "Don't get pregnant, homes."
I think there is a pretty good chance Justin is going to get preggers.

All I can think is, it must be such a pain to have the whole world watching your relationship when you're only 17/18 years old...
I still see both of them as like 13 year olds even though they're older than that. o.O
Why is this an issue for them, but no one cares about every other celeb couple getting pregnant. Leave them alone, they are just young and in love. They have all the same issues to deal with as every other young couple, leave them alone.
If they conceive, that's their 401k plan.
Knowing how stupid most kids their age are about sex, it definitely needs pressed hard on to them by their parents. None of this babying teens "Oh if you get pregnant, it's OK! I'll help you!!!!!" shit. My mom told me my ass would be out on the street if I got pregnant while she was still supporting me. Of course she didn't mean it but she had to have me think that at the time so I wouldn't have sex early on, and it worked.

Although I agree with Bieber's mom and I would tell them the same thing, I just wouldn't go out and talk about what I told them in public. The most I'd ever say is that their sex life isn't gossip fodder.
I'm sure Bieb's mom had a talk with them, but it certainly wasn't shared with OK! magazine the most unreliable source for anything.
I actually think it's amazing that his mom did this. That sends out a very positive message to parents around the U.S. As for what would happen if she got pregnant? They'd get a reality show, duh!
@MissAshley - My mom said something along those lines to me too. She threatened to kick me out of the house if I ever got pregnant. Unfortunately, that was the only "talk" we had, as sex is basically ignored in our house. I sure as hell won't ignore its existence when I have my kids in the future.
dude, Selena's hair is GORGEOUS in that picture. as for her getting pregnant, their careers would probably end up just fine. besides, neither of them are very talented singers so we wouldn't be losing much. then again, Selena isn't too bad an actress.

@RazielV@xanga - Yes and no I think. I can apply it to my mother's life. She certainly had me out of wedlock and certainly was paying for it for the longest time. She has told that she did regret being that stupid and having me so early like that. I think it depends on the person and how they feel about it.

And yes, it's kind of insensitive to allude to Selena/Justin being "a lifetime of regret." -- obviously they didn't mean it that way but it was a very poor choice of words.
