Facebook vs. Twitter: Which Social Media Site Do You Prefer?
It's the battle of the century! Lately I've been wondering which social media site people are starting to prefer. Both allow us to keep up with the happenings of friends, family and yes, even celebrities, but would you rather "Like" your friend's status or "Retweet" them? Here are my personal pros and cons to both websites:
In this corner we have Facebook!
We all know what Facebook is, and if you don't, well, you're probably not even reading this because you live under a rock or in a cave somewhere. We've all been "Friended" and (gasp!) "Unfriended" by people, uploaded photos of our vacations, graduation parties, etc., and if you're anything like my boyfriend and I, making our relationship "Facebook Official" was a HUGE deal.
All of these things are what make Facebook great--it allows you to personalize a page just for you and your interest while allowing you to browse the pages of others. Facebook is a great way for me to communicate with friends and family that I don't see very often. This past year, however, I've found myself spending less and less time on Facebook. I usually log on to the site only a few times a day, check to see if I have any notifications, what the top news/status updates are and then I log off. I've gotten tired of weeding through people's ramblings and I will seriously punch a wall if I see another status that says some variation of "I LUV MAH GURLZ!!!*****" Yes, I know that I could simply delete them from my friend list or even block their activity, but it still seems like too much work considering I'm starting to spend less time on the site.

And in this corner we have Twitter!
So why I have I been spending less time on Facebook? Because I've been spending more time on Twitter! I started an account about two years ago and have slowly become obsessed. I love that I can follow anyone--not just friends but celebrities and businesses too! It's so quick and uncomplicated and honestly, Twitter is where I receive a lot of news information too. S
ure, you can "Like" a celebrity on Facebook but can you actually read hilarious things straight from Ellen Page? I've heard a few people (most from an older generation) that Twitter is just a fad and that it'll be over soon, but I'm not so sure. Some argue that Twitter is "stupid" because it's basically people posting status updates as often as they want, which is of course, possible on Facebook. Although I've had a few instances when people I follow are live-tweeting an event and I want to throw my phone across the room, I don't get as annoyed with Twitter as I do with Facebook. There's a lot less digging and I still have a (somewhat) customizable profile.
So who wins the social media battle? Both Facebook and Twitter have their ups and downs but DING DING DING! We have a winner! Personally, Twitter wins this battle--I'd rather delete my Facebook page than give up tweeting.
Which social media site do you prefer? Would you rather update your status or tweet 140 characters?

Facebook!
Twitter lets me creep on celebrities, though...
Tweet, tweet!
And wait, Ellen Page has a Twitter? I love her!
I only have a Facebook. I admit that I thought Twitter was a fad and would have been over by now, but I was wrong.
I think Twitter is retarded personally. Facebook is better but still so limited. My favorite will be SocialMore once it really gets going, but it's still in alpha and missing most of what it will do. But then there is also Google+ which I want to check out.
they are both kinda boring
I'd rather have a Facebook.
Im also obsessed with Twitter. Id give up my Facebook account for Twitter. I like the fact that you can post a quick thought or message every few minutes without pissing someone off, because thats what Twitter is for. On the other hand, if you do that on Facebook, it would kind of be.. spamming.
Facebook for socializing. It helps me keep in touch and up to date with people in a more thorough manner. It doesn't limit to 140 characters, which always helps. I tend to blather a lot and conciseness with big issues that need elaborating irritates me. I had a friend Tweet "June is not a good month for the -surname- family" and we exchanged several Tweets just for me to find out how horribly ill her family members had fallen.
Twitter is for stuff that I want to say to some people, but stuff that's often too lame for Facebook posts. I follow certain people on Twitter as a consumer mostly, like learning new things from game developers on up and coming games or expansions, and to see when certain people are having shows; where and when... mostly comedians like the Whose Line guys. :>
I despise Facebook and it basically makes me want to hate everyone on the internet (therefore in real life).
I don't have a Twitter, though, so sadly I'd have to go with Facebook.
I love Twitter! Not only can I talk to people who have the same interests as I do [ I like Yankees baseball and don't know many people in Pittsburgh who do] but I can rant, get other people's opinions on things, find about events.. and news. Seriously I knew about Osama Bin Laden before they said it on the news and about the verdict on the Casey Anthony trial before it was on online news because of twitter.
& Ellen Page! Defff looking for her!
I just deleted my Twitter cause it was boring. I guess I wasn't "following" enough people.
I'm on Facebook ALL the time. I'm totally addicted.
I'm more addicted to tumblr ;) And possibly xanga more than facebook or twitter. Twitter is okay. I don't really get the point of it much but facebook is fine I guess for connecting and staying in touch with people and family members you normally can't.
neither. xanga
lol Tumblr
oh nope nope i don't know what neither of them are.. yup i've been living under a rock then i moved into a cave because i needed more room.. damn me for not keeping up with the modern times.. oh how will i live!
umm FACEBOOK!!! considering the fact that you can be on Facebook and see what your friends have posted on twitter.... lol!
@CrAdLe2daGrAve@xanga - lol oh my how will you ever survive without the knowledge of Twitter and Facebook and all of the other social media networks and the Internet?! at least you have access to Xanga/Lovelyish in that cave - yay! :)
I hate Twitter. I just don't really see the point. I don't have that much to say about myself...
