Ikea Hack: Designer Nightstand
Inspired by a photo from Style At Home Magazine, Aubrey & Lindsay over at Little House Blog created these posh nighstands out of an Ikea table, some paint, wood stain, and new handles. Because I feel I am at the lowest of the low in the creative-ability department, if I can do a D-I-Y project, anyone can do it! So I gave this project the "Amy Test".
First, I purchased 2 Ikea Rast Tables, along with 12 gold handles from Lee Valley (6 handles to each table). I had some white paint left over from a past project, but did snatch up a tiny canister of Ebony wood stain from Home Depot.
Putting together the Ikea tables was probably the most time-consuming part of the project (shocker). But once those were done, I painted the front white and stained the body, giving me the great 2-toned look like Aubrey & Lindsay.
Once dry, I screwed on the handles, and voila! A designer-looking nightstand for the price of Target! This took all of one afternoon to complete start-to-finish and I love the storage these babies offer. I suppose my only complaint would be that the faces of the drawers occassionally pop-off the body of the nightstand. Just make sure to construct the nightstands according to Ikea's directions and give the faces an extra push when inserting them.

I love your DIY projects, but I will never, ever shop from IKEA. They turned out really cute!
cute!
Not really my style, but I work at a furniture store, so I have a bit higher standards for my furniture than IKEA. Glad you found a way to make it personal though.
