My 10 Favorite Fashion Icons from the 60's
In Project Runway's most recent episode the contestants had to make an outfit that Jackie Kennedy would wear. This challenge inspired me to compile the top women fashion icons of the 1960s. Here they are in alphabetical order.
[listal]
Jane Birkin is a singer, model, actress, and director. She was seen canoodling with actor and musician Serge Gainsbourg for a short time. You can also thank her for the idea of the Birkin bag.

Catherine Deneuve won an academy award for her role in Indochine. She is known as the muse of Yves Saint Laurent. She was also the face of many designers such as Chanel, L'Oreal Paris, MAC, and Louis Vuitton.

Francoise Hardy is an actress, singer and believe it or not, astrologer. She inspired some of the greatest artists we know, such a Bob Dylan (you can find her on the cover of Another Side of Bob Dylan), Balenciaga, and Nicolas Ghesquiere.

Audrey Hepburn, who knows if any of us would be wearing ballerina flats if it weren't for her and her pixie haircut! She also made black turtle necks sexy and chic.

Twiggy (Lesley Hornby) gave skinny pale girls a voice in style. Everyone wanted big dark lashes, a pale complexion and a short dress.

Janis Joplin is the epitome of 60s hippie fashion. Bohos would be lost without her free spirited style.

Jackie Kennedy gave hope to the girls who strayed from the Joplin look. Instead of unshaven and unshowered, Kennedy was polished, elegant and knew how to rock the shades.

Mary Quant might be a personal icon of mine, but where would we be without the mini skirt? I refuse to wear anything (besides jeans) below the mid-thigh length.

Edie Sedgwick is best known for her days at The Factory and working with Andy Worhol. She became quite the socialite and was pronounced a “Youthquaker” by Vogue. (See Wikipedia for the definition of Youthquake.)

Jean Shrimpton put the 'super' in supermodel. She has appeared on numerous covers of Vogue, as well as Bazaar, Vanity Fair, etc. People often referred to her as the “world's most beautiful face.”
Who would you add to the list?

I would just like to say that I really appreciate that Janis is on here. That is all.
Yay Edie, <33
Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg didn't "canoodle" for a "short time." They were married for ten years and had a child together.
My vote is for Janice and Audrey

@shpadoinkle2006@xanga - THANK YOU. I know for sure their daughter is Charlotte Gainsbourg who is also a singer and actress. I remember reading somewhere that she has a sister, so Jane and Serge may have had two children.
What is wrong with Audrey Hepburn's eyebrows?!
But yay! Edie Sedgwick, Janis Joplin, and Jackie :)
