Urban Outfitters Wants You To Eat Less
(This is a screen shot I took of it from the website.)
This morning I came across a post talking about an "Eat Less" t-shirt from Urban Outfitters. I don't shop there and have only been inside twice, both times with a super artsy friend who likes to waste money.
Anyway...I wanted to see if it was true that this shirt actually existed. Sad thing? It does.
Just what kind of message are they sending people when selling this kind of junk? I mean, it would be awesome as a novelty shirt that just sits in your drawer but people are actually buying, and wearing, it.
Is this shirt (and I'm not saying it is, or isn't) promoting eating disorders? What do you think of the shirt? Would you wear it?

i think it's terrible and def sending a bad message
It's stupid. Not only is it lacking in originality, the design also sucks.
I bet they accepted the design because it'll cause controversy, and that equals free advertising. Good marketing ploy on their part.
Lovelyish, you should change your name to Weightish because that is ALL that is published these days. It gets boring to talk about the same thing over and over and OVER again. Is there nothing else exciting in this world to talk about?!?!
I think it's sending the same message that american apparel is sending by not making plus size clothing, which is that skinny is what's "hot" and "IN" and the only way to be. I think it's dumb. I wouldn't wear that shirt because, shit, i like food and there's nothing wrong with that, it's all about moderation and being healthy. blahhhhh !
P.s do they make it in men's sizes? because if they don't, that speaks volumes too =/
god.. it's just a shirt. stop causing too much drama.
It doesn't promote eating disorders, its saying "hey, lose some fucking weight!" && the healthy way, hopefully..
it's a frikken shirt
get over it, if people are going to be influenced over what a shirt SAYS there is something wrong ,no, its just a conversation starter

Nevertheless, that's a pretty bitchy shirt.
i would wear it. it's funny.
and eating disorders also include eating TOO MUCH
i dont find this offensive at all
well, some people DO need to eat less. i mean, seriously.
Could be a social or environmental statement, not necessarily just to "eat less".
I don't get the big deal
I think it's promoting aneroxia so much as telling americans to be careful. A lot of americans, my self included, tend to eat more than we should
I would wear it. It's funny.
I don't think it's offensive at all.
:)
uh...a lot of people really should try eating less...as for getting offended, offense is between the ears of the person being offended, it is a choice...one that i find boring and pointless....
That's horrible. It's things like these that cause people to have eating disorders and self-esteem issues.
Urban Outfitters is right across from where I live, and I really like their vintage-retro collection of clothing. But I'm not so crazy about their graphic tees. I would not wear it, never would even think to touch it.
All I have to say to this is WHAT THE FUUUUUUCK.
The majority of Americans do need to eat less. Fact.
@tialoca_talks@xanga - I agree. I think it is ridiculous that some people would get offended by someone wearing this shirt, as if they wore the shirt to directly offend them individually. I agree with that saying too.
Urban Outfitters is silly and overpriced. I wonder how I (or anyone, for that matter) would react to someone wearing a shirt like this in public.
@aheartofglitter@xanga - Now, a shirt that says THAT should get some heads turning, not one that just says "eat less".
I will take the side of those offended when urban outfitters makes a shirt that says "hey you fucking fat ass american, quick stuffing 89 cent taco bell burritos down your face hole and go for a walk, you nasty shit."
But then again, that probably won't fit on a shirt.
I want that shirt.
...I would wear it..
