I don't know how many times I've read a post on a teenage celebrity doing something scandalous.
Every time Miley Cyrus or any other famous "tween" does something stupid, we get two sides. The people who think this stuff is wrong (like me) and the people who give these teenage celebs slack because they are "just like any other teenager."
Well guess what? I'm a normal teenager. I go to school, I have friends, I'm lazy, I watch TV, I like going to the movies. No where in my life have I tried to dance up on a pole, wear white shirts with colored bras underneath, wear make up to the point of looking 25, or anything.
You know how many times I've seen "she's just a teenager." ? So what if she's a teenager? I understand that fame can twist your world upside down, but the way you "try" to act normal just makes you look more bizarre. You give teenagers like me (aka the average teen) a bad name. You make us all sound like dumb, rebellious, slutty, show offs.
Reality check, we're not.
What do you think teenagers are like? Do you think Miley and others are justified through this reasoning?

Well all teenagers are different.
uhh... its... not that big of a deal....
and i think that we should give all celebrities a slack, because they are all human, not just miley because she's a teen.
All teenagers are dumb, rebellious, slutty, and showoffs. ;]
Not all teenagers are the same.
i would like to know what is considered the "average teen" my ex best friend wore colored bras under her shirts and she was no where near a slut. Shes a teenager and she does make mistakes. You mean to tell me in you're whole teenage life you never made a bad choice or made a (really) bad fashion choice? Because that doesnt seem very average to me.
Every teen is different but we're all far from perfect. Not all of them are crazy like the ones you mentioned but we have our bad moments. That's how you learn. I just hate how teenagers are stereotyped. It's so annoying. It's like people expect them to do bad & it's not right.
I think miley is terrible and I also think that picture will give me nightmares :(
People do comment and say we are all the same and that we are bad and our hormones are raging but thats not every teenager out there. There are a lot of teens that are drinking and doing scandalous things as well, you just dont hear it because they are not stars unlike Miley. Then again there are a lot of teens like you, who dont do the above mentioned. But like Nellie0x said not all teenagers are the same.
I think you ruined your point using the term reality check.
Umm earth to Matilda, we don't really mean earth is calling you.
she IS just a teenager, she does things a lot of normal teenagers do, the only reason they seem worse is because she's famous. someday she'll grow up and realize she was acting stupid. you'll grow up and realize you were wrong about some things too.
To an extent. Teens in the showbiz grow up slightly different. They live under a magnifying glass therefore a lot of the things they tend to do get blown up more. The thing with teens or any person, is that we're not perfect. Everyone's gonna make mistakes. It's part of growing up. So if they do something wrong, they do something wrong, but media and society sometimes tends to blow it up to something super big, as if it's so terribly wrong. Plus the mistakes say a "normal" teen would do don't get reported to the millions when it happens, and they may not have the opportunity as much to gain access to a pole to dance around, but I've also seen how some kids dance these days (like my little sister, just about to turn 13), raises my eyebrows. It's gonna happen. Ultimately I think it matters most what the individual thinks and how they are.
Meh, bad teenagers give bad teenagers a bad name. Everyone's different.
The difference between regular teenagers and famous teenagers is the fact that they are under a microscope and the media make stories out of all their mistakes as well as emphasis them. You can't sit there and tell me you've never made one bad [if not dreadful] mistake as a teenager. No teenager is perfect. Sure, you may be well intentioned, but it's the people on the outside who will judge without mercy.
I truly think that Miley has good intentions but she can't please everyone. Like she said in her Harper Bazaar interview, "My job isn't to tell your kid how to act or how not to act, because I'm still figuring that out for myself. Your kids are going to make mistakes whether I do or not. That's just life."
Teens will be teens with or without Miley Cyrus, Taylor Momsen, etc.
stfu about miley cyrus.
I don't think they're saying "She's just a teenager" because of specifically what she does. It's more the fact that she's rebellious.
All teenagers are rebellious to some degree.
So by her being "overly slutty", yeah, she's being a teenager.
Everyone makes what are considered "mistakes" , or cultural mistakes.
Thinking we are superior to miley is not going to help us, learning from her mistakes and recognizing ours is what will make us learn faster thats all.
If your best friend doesnt get a geometry problem faster than you , is she dumb. No, just slower. Be thankful you have a good head on your shoulders..xoxo
I love u Miley!
Ugh, I used to enjoy these posts, but seriously, its mileyish instead of lovelyish now..
I wore sexy outfits to a few of my high school dances and danced provocatively. other than that, I was a normal teenager, who went to the mall and watched movies every weekend to check out cute guys.
I don't agree with this post, at all. Every teenager is different. I'm sure that list that you mentioned that does not apply to you does apply to some other "normal" teenager. Tween celebs don't give teenagers a bad name, teenagers give teenagers a bad name. Actually, society has given teenagers a bad name for decades. It's just the way things are. Those same celebs you are saying give you a bad name, also do good things as well but I don't see you mentioning that part, why see only the bad?
They need to stand apart from the normal average teenager because that is what viewers like. They like to see something bigger, something that is not completely attainable, that's the appeal to it.
Really, only you can give yourself a bad name.
Her "slutty" photos are normal photos everyone takes once in their lifetime. People make it seem like she stripped naked. I doubt she intended to look like a stripper in her performance. I'm not even sure if she's in charge of what she has to wear while performing(could be wrong?) . Who says she is the representation of teens? She doesn't give ANYONE a bad reputation. Her actions reflect her as an individual. Just because she's famous, it does not mean she has to be pure and put on some high pedestal. Who are we anyhow to criticise? I haven't made the mistakes she's made, but i honestly don't care what she does.
There are more "effed up" celebs out there. Vanessa Hudgens sent nude photos. The whole world isn't on her case. But ohMILEY YOU'RE TERRIBLE.BLAHBLAHBLAH. idk I just get annoyed by it.
At least she is still living and not letting this shit get to her. She's honest in her interviews most of the time. Those who analyze and criticise her actions, fashion attire, and appearance aren't going to change who she is or make a difference. I don't think she's trying to represent teenagers nor justify her actions at all.
I'm 23, we all had our crazy teenage moments, everyone is different, like most everyone about commented the same. Its all a matter of perspective.
not all teenagers are the same but there's always a part of them that just are ignorant to get attention.
Well, that's teenagers for you! :D
@scarletchord@xanga - Ahaha
"Her "slutty" photos are normal photos everyone takes once in their lifetime."
umm NO.
