Which is Better, Outer or Inner Beauty?
I received a comment on one of my pictures from a Xangan saying that I was beautiful, which I really do appreciate. but I was upset when I read the rest of it where she was calling herself a "fat ugly bitch."
I mean, I don't know if she is fat, but I don't care if she is or if she isn't. She definitely isn't ugly, she has inner beauty and that's great. She doesn't need to have outer beauty for me to like her, but it seems she needs to have that to like herself. She's definitely not a bitch; she is really sweet. She welcomed me and sent some nice words to me. That's not what a bitch does. So, let's get to the point of this blog: which is better, outer or inner beauty?
I personally think inner beauty, because it will be there for your whole life; with time outer beauty will go. It won't be there for your whole life, but inner beauty will. Inner beauty is the true person, not just the way they present themselves. All my friends have inner beauty and they don't need outer beauty in addition for me to consider them my friends. Their inner beauty is enough.
So, which is better: outer or inner beauty?

No one should even have to ask! Inner beauty. Outer beauty fades, no matter what plastic surgery you get.
INNER FER SUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it doesn't matter how great you look on the outside, if your personality sux and your a terriable person to people then your outter beauty starts to turn ugly.
Inner.
I'm going to be shallow and truthful and say I probably notice/care about outer beauty more.
It's honestly more noticeable and really does draw me to get to know someone.
i'm going to be shallow and say outer. i'm only saying it because it's how i personally feel. i have inner beauty and i'm extremely caring, but i'm just not happy.
Inner. But obviously people notice Outer first. :T Thats how people are i guess ><
@MsKittyCatty@xanga - That's exactly what I was thinking. Anyone who thinks that outer beauty is more important is gonna have an awful shock and no friends once they hit their midlife crises.
@LauraG0929@xanga - haha, true story.
They are both relative.
Inner! I think it becomes reflected in someone's outer beauty though - a combination of physical traits and the way that inner beauty shines through via smiles, confidence, etc.
I have to be honest, outer beauty matters more to me when I'm meeting new people. You don't have to be a model, but I'd prefer it if I didn't wince every time I saw you. :[
@AimeeFrying@xanga - i agree.
fiddlesticks. outer whilst one is young. is this what i try to instill in my daughter? no. but it's reality. it sucks, i don't like it. but there it is.
if i had my way--and oh how awesome that would be--inner beauty would be the most important. it certainly is everlasting.
Well she is right to say you're beautiful. I understand where she's coming from though. It's the self-loathing that comes from seeing others as beautiful and seeing yourself as "Wait, I don't look anything like them. And if they are beautiful and I don't look anything like them, that means I'm not beautiful." That's what I think anyway when I see beautiful people.
Inner beauty is definitely important, but outer beauty is just so much easier to be jealous of because, well, it's apparent.
Im just so beautiful that it doesnt matter
While it is easily said that outer beauty is the first thing we notice about other people, it's most definitely the inner beauty of a person that matters more. If you don't have a beautiful heart/soul then you don't have anything. You could be the world's most gorgeous model, but if you don't have inner beauty then you have nothing. Inner beauty is what makes life worth living, what makes the world a better place. Not to mention that inner beauty never fades, never dies with age-but outer beauty fades with time, no matter what you do to maintain it. Final answer: inner beauty.
Inner beauty definitely. I notice girls too often (at least those that I go to school, work etc. with) who are GORGEOUS physically, but are real jerks. Their personalities suck! I don't care how pretty your face is.. inner beauty rocks!
if looks don't matter, then why do people criticize themselves. the entire package matters.
I think in the long run, definitely inner beauty. You deal with the people, and how their heart thinks, is how they will behave towards you. You want to spend time and talk to a person with a kind and beautiful inside (personality), not a beautiful vase. Outer beauty is only skin deep. Eventually it fades anyways. If that person didn't have inner beauty either, then what would be left of him/her?
Cultivate your inner beauty, because outer beauty fades in time. Look at Madonna - she was pretty when she was younger, but now she just looks horrible.
That's a fact of life.
inner beauty is much better. picture a model who's always pissed, either crying, or walks with his/her head down. that shit ain't sexy.
your outer beauty is what attracts people to you and makes them want to get to know your inner beauty. they are both important. but in our shallow world outer is probably more important.
Outer beauty is so stoic and un(for)giving if it's not ideal. It is set on strict precepts & ignorant impressions. It absorbs other people's attention. While inner beauty is warm and takes longer to appreciate. It continues to radiate someone in a lifetime of relationships. With the radiation, it warms other people.
Inner! It gets you the real friends and, rather importantly, it lasts. Besides, as you get older, everyone starts sagging and if you're without inner beauty you get excessive frowny wrinkles. It's the ones with inner beauty who start looking prettier than their peers in comparison, with happy, friendly wrinkles. When I'm 90 years old, I want that kind of beauty.
I'd be a liar if I said people never notice outer beauty but once that goes with age, then what's left? Beauty fades but what's on the inside says forever. I'd rather be loved for my mind & soul that how I look.
