Super Creepy: Moms Who Love Twilight
A vampire and a cougar: a match made in heaven?
CNN recently posted a story on older ladies who are just as into Edward Cullen as their tween daughters.
Says one woman in the article: "We're having a really, really fabulous time being 30, 40, or 50. We're very unapologetic of our age...Women are saying 'so what, I'm 45, I'm married, I have children, but there's no reason why I can't say that Robert Pattinson is hot.'"
I did some Googling and discovered tons of "adults only" Twilight fan sites, including twilightmoms.com, a sharp-looking blog that runs contests and links to stores that carry Twilight merchandise. A Nordstrom employee told the Boston Herald that the store's life-size RPattz cutouts keep getting swiped, and the culprit? Middle-aged moms.
Does Twilight appeal to women who are going through a mid-life crisis? Is Edward the perfect fantasy for possibly-bored older mothers?
Does your mom like Twilight, and is this creepy, or is it just me?

My mom thinks it's stupid that vampires sparkle.
my mom went to go see the first movie 13 times in theaters.
I went 2 times.
No, I am not joking.
Oh my. This is so creepy. Thank God my mom has sense, and is satisfied enough in her marriage that she doesn't crush on wayy too young british dudes. Get a life moms.
Twi-Moms are creepy.
but then again so are half the twilight fans
Way creepy
Everyone has stuff they like. I don't think it is creepy.
I would find that a little creepy.
@LOVExSKINNYx@xanga - lol aww. yeah, my mom read the book like, 20 times too. i haven't read it once. but no, my moms not a diehard fan of robert pattinson. she just likes the book a LOT.
I have seen the Twilight Groupies on television. I don't get it!
That's totally creepy. Glad my mom isn't obsessed with it. Could you see the women in the pictures are wearing inappropriate clothing for their age? SAD.
my mom loves the movie but she's never read the book so she doesn't count. however, one of my best friend's mom's loves twilight (and rob), and i happen to think it's awesome. :D
I have no clue if my mother likes twilight. I don't even like twilight. But I do think it's weird, maybe that's their way of bonding or something? I have no clue..
What if it's a young mom between 18 and 25? Are they still creepy?
way to be extremely judgmental.
Sure they can think Rob Pattinson is hot.
There's nothing really wrong with that.
He's over 18, right?
I mean, I bet adult grown men think young girls like Blake Lively and Kirsten Stewart are attractive all the time... but I think men can control their fangirliness better than women. Haha.
Anything to feel young again.
Honestly, I don't see what's so creepy about it. Maybe it's because I'm also a huge fan of the Twilight saga. I'm only 20, but if I was 40 or even 50 I think I'd love it just as much. Are we not supposed to find men attractive as we get older? Or even have hobbies or interests? Dang.
When I saw New Moon, a mother got VERY excited whenever Taylor Lautner showed it. THAT was creepy because he's seventeen. That's like, "Um, lady, you know that's illegal, right?"
I'm a mom and I love Twilight. I'm creepy now? Wow....way to be close-minded and judgemental.
@Nellie0x@xanga - Yeah...that's my thoughts too.
What's so creepy about it? Get over it.
I don't think it's creepy at all. Women have hormones just as young girls do, and sometimes they find people attractive, and sometimes they get alittle obsessive. Don't we all?
thanks for adding me (:
I think its okay for moms to be into twilight as much as their daughters are however if they were acting gaga about only the eye candy rather than the story line that's a little creepy..
@Imnotcrazyjustinsane@xanga - that's because men aren't fangirls. ;]
I'm Hilaw's daughter and we both think twilight is weird.
when i went to see it there were moms that screamed every time jacob black showed up shirtless. quite frankly, i'd be embarrassed if that were my mother, not gonna lie. its not so much that i have a problem with them thinking taylor lautner is hot [cause he is]. i was more annoyed at the screaming. i prefer to enjoy movies when it is relatively quiet, thank you very much.
no, my mom isn't a fan. she liked the vampire/werewolf idea but didn't think the book was well written. plus, she's not a romance novel type of person.
