People Can Never Tell How Old I Am
In life, many people try to look a different age than what they really are. When we are younger we want to look older and as we look older we want to look younger. What about looking your age? Growing up, people always thought I looked older. When I was 12-14 I was thought to be 16 or 17. This led to quite a few people trying to ask me out only to be humiliated that they just asked out someone that young. At 17 I could pass for 21 or 22, even had bartenders offer me drinks. I look a lot different that I did when I was 12 and yet at work the other day I had a guy think I was 16.
For reference I am 20, just a few months shy of being 21. I am married, have my own place and live like I am an adult but yet I still get treated like I am 16. I don't dress any way in particular, normally jeans, either a t-shirt or blouse, typically flats and a cardigan. I wear my make-up simple most days, no lipstick, eyeliner, mascara and foundation. If I am going out then I might go for a smokey eye, or another sultry look. It isn't my body type either, I am hourglass shaped and a good weight for my height. Sometimes my face does breakout, maybe this is a contributing factor. I would like to dress my age and I sometimes wonder if I am doing that wrong.
Have you ever been called younger than you were? How do you manage to look your age?Editor's note: This post was submitted by email.

I've always been said to look older. I've not ever been told I look younger. :( Bummer !
people always think I'm younger than I am but that's simply because I'm an elf ;P
i'm fourteen, but people usually think i'm sixteen or seventeen.
People have always thought I looked younger than my real age since high school. I'm 24 now, and I probably look about 20. But I'm fine with that; it just means that when I get middle-aged, I won't appear as old.
When I start talking, though, my words usually belie my youthful appearance.
I'm a 200 years old werewolf. Seriously.
One day in Sept I had guys ask me if I were a niner, a few hours later while I'm working out at the ymca a guy comes over and asked me if I was 20 - he also wanted to know if I were Spanish (hitting on me the whole time)
I'm 16....and not to mention Asian
Looking younger is not a problem. haha. Up until I was 20, I was always mistaken for a 15 year old, and I guess after some college stress and all-nighters, I finally look my age. I'm always flattered when I'm asked where I want to go to college, and amaze people by saying "I already graduated." Trust me, it can be disheartening when people think you are older than you really are.
Ever since I was 12, I've been mistaken for 18. Ever since 17 or so though, people have thought I was consistently like, 22. (I'm 19).
23 yrs and gets carded by cops for possibly being a middle school student. I am offended. I think that chick that goes by cutesycharm or whatever her name is....she looks like a scary midget. I think she suffers from the same problem.
Since younger, people always thought I was 2 or 3 years younger than my age. Im 19 now and some people thinks I look 16. I guess for me it is genetics because my parents also look younger than their age. :)
i used to look much older when i was younger. i used to look 17-18 when i was 13-14. i'll be 22 in two months, but now some people still think im 16-17. i hate ID checks.
everyone thinks i'm younger than i am
Lol many people think I am older than my age but is okay because I am shortness balance out my age
People always think I'm younger than my age. Asians in general tend to look deceptively young...which I find rather annoying.
I always get frustrated when people reply "Oh, you'll be glad you look young by the time you're 30!" Well, only problem is.. I'm NOT 30 and won't be so until many many years.
Everyone thinks I'm younger than I am. I'm a Junior, and I got called a Freshman at the beginning of the year >.> My mom says I'll like it when I'm older, but I don't know if I'll care that much when I'm older.
a lot of people think I am older than I am because my maturity? Idk that's what they've said...because everytime I'm like "Gee thanks.." they say "oh no you don't look older you act older" and it's like is that even much better? lol I still wear jeans and t shirts or tank tops...skirts. I think only a couple of people have thought I was younger but it's mostly older
Try wearing heels. I think this can instantly add maturity. Plus itll help if people think you are too young because you are short
sometimes ppl mistake me for being much younger. i take that as compliments. but sometimes i do want ppl to take me seriously and stop talking to me like i'm a kid.... i'm 22 now, it's ok if ppl think i'm like 20... but 18...is just so different...
i'm nearly 21, and am constantly asked what year i am in high school :(
People think I'm in my early-mid 20s when I am far from it.
it seems as though my appearance hasn't matured since i was fourteen.
i'm twenty, for the record.
I'm almost 19 but extremely petite and timid, so people are more likely to think I'm 13.
I'm nineteen. If someone has just met me, they typically think I'm younger, but if they've known me for a while and never found out my age, they think I'm older. I think my body shape and young face (?) and lack of make-up makes me seem younger, and the way I talk and sometimes act makes me seem older. I'd rather be mistaken for being older than being younger. Why can't life have a fast-forward button?
I always get told I'm younger, simply for my small stature of 5'0.
My face is apparently mature though, so in photos I don't look quite as young.
people always think i look younger and i like it :P
