  • My Top 5 (Weird) Pet Peeves

    5. People who go slow at the salad bar. I'm a lifelong vegetarian, so I have a generous serving of salad bar experience. And I have to say, people: it's not a decorating contest! I like to fly through, slop everything on top of the lettuce and head back to my table to devour. But I always seem to be behind people who prefer to artfully arrange the julienned carrots over their carefully positioned beets.

    4. People who narrate their driving. "Let me in! I'm trying to get over!" "Wow, that guy had a lot of bumper stickers on his car." "Slow down, asshole!" "I'm sorry, I took that turn too fast." "What the hell is that SUV DOING???" When I'm in a car with someone, I like to have a conversation that's not an observational dialogue on the road in front of us. I also try to limit my own tendency to do this when I'm the one driving.

    3. Emails that go unanswered. Argh, I hate this one! I have no way of knowing if in fact you did get my term paper on time, professor, or if you know that our meeting is today, boss. You agonize until you ask them about it later, and they're like, "oh yeah, no, I got your email." Then reply to it! It's bad enough when a friend or crush doesn't reply to your heartfelt email, but how hard is it in a professional setting to type back a quick "got it, thanks," just to give the sender some peace of mind?

    2. People who still pay with checks. See how long it takes to dig out your checkbook, fill out the info and the amount, get out your driver's license, wait for the cashier to write down your info and run it through the machine? It's 2009! Get a debit card! I worked as a cashier in college and I would always dread the little old ladies who would pull out their checkbooks and slowly write out everything in their flowery script.

    1. YOUR does not equal YOU'RE, and other grammar catastrophes. As a writer and editor I've seen everything: "a lot" as one word, run-on sentences, "than" for "then," "its" for "it's," no spaces between words (seriously!) It's not that hard to learn basic spelling and grammar rules and follow them! It will make the world a happier place. And don't get me started on unnecessary quotation marks...

So those are my weird pet peeves. Do you agree? What are yours?

when someone forget to leave the toilet seat down after they flush.

    all the germs spreading... =___=

  • x__MYJAdEdLULLAbY@xanga

i totally agree with number 1!!

  • xnotxbeautifulx@xanga

When I'm in the bathroom and someone knocks on the door and starts talking to me.

Hair on the soap bar. I hate finding hair on the soap bar. It freaks me out.

  • onetwelve112@xanga

dirty bathrooms. Anything from pee spills, to hair in the drain, to tooth paste in the sink

I hate when people wash dishes with all the left overs still on them.  I have to wash everything off, put the dishes to the side... clean the sink, and then wash the dishes.  Whats the point of washing dishes if the sponge is dirty?! I don't get it.

When people forget tissues everywhere. Ugh, god knows what they used it for. gross.

When people tell me what to do when I know I need to do it.  I hate it. I'm an adult, I know I need to do something.

When people clean meat in the sink, and then throw all the dishes in there! clean the sink first!

Pets. Pet hair, Pet poop, Pet Smells, Pet sounds. ugh. stressful.

  • Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga

    -Mushrooms growing in overwatered lawns.
    -Wet socks
-Toilet paper roll facing the wall

  • sarahflorida1085@xanga

i agree with number 3 and 1 the most-3 especially when I have deadlines for grad school!

  • indescribablyme@xanga

I hate it when people say "alot" as if it's one word.
I'm always telling people there's a space between the a and the l in "alot."

    haha weird.. i know

  • XxFireXboltxX@xanga

I'm guilty of number 2 and 4. I'm trying to get better though...lol!!!

My pet peeve is people who don't use blinkers. They are on your car for a reason!!!

  • Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga

I agree with all of those. They arent weird trust me.

I hate when you're walking or you have a cart or whatever & the person sees you (often looking dead in your face) & goes slow. Or they block the lane until they're done shopping. Sometimes I just move their stuff & keep moving.

My biggest peeve: People who cough or sneeze & never cover their mouth. I never hold back when I see that & people actually have nerve to get mad at ME for schooling them on it. I'm big on sharing things, but not diseases.

  • LoveYouToDeath16@xanga

I can't stand it when people let their mouths hang open. Or when there are celebrity (or any other people for that matter) pictures where their mouths are always open on PURPOSE, like Megan Fox for example.

And also the spelling/grammar thing too, heh.

  • ShimmerBodyCream@xanga

I'm a vegetarian too so I agree with that.

The last one I disagree with because now we write so fast and often our words are bound to get mangled at some point. So I sometimes will mess up "your" etc because we write like we speak without thinking sometimes.

  • ShimmerBodyCream@xanga

@Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga - Argh! I agree! I had this one guy cough right on my head!!! Talk about swine flu right there! lol

  • GieGieHeart@xanga

I agree with number 1! Also, I hate hearing people chew or slurp what they eat or drink. Even  worse when their mouth is open. Gross. Another one, when people don't wash their hands. Honestly, how hard is it to put some soap on your hands and wash them. Takes what, 30 seconds-- give or take-- how hard is that?

  • armed_withSQUIRTGUNS@xanga

i hate when i put on a fresh pair of socks and then step in a spot of something wet. its such an annoying feeling... haha

or the sound of people obnoxiously eating bananas..

or when people just squeeze the toothpaste instead of bottom up..

or when people just randomly go up to you and say "SMELL THIS".. UHM NO?

or people indecisive people who can't say no or yes but instead say "ehhhh.."
"hey do you like this shirt?"
    "..ehhhh"
"okay... well how about this one?"
    "eh..ehhhhhhh"
" alright alright this one looks nice, what do you think?"
    "........ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
    "GODDAMNITT!!!"

    hahahaha

  • Rachies_Icons@xanga

i hate people who chew with their mouth open. not only do i not need to see that, i don't need to hear it!

  • armed_withSQUIRTGUNS@xanga

dont get me started on restaurant and driving pet peeves!

  • vegaskandigirl@xanga

bad grammar bothers me sometimes as well, bad spelling too..I try not to let it, and I stopped saying anything about it because I've noticed people hate being corrected, but also because I feel weird for letting it bother me haha.  I also hate when people treat my stuff with little respect, and leave their trash everywhere for me to clean up...it's like.  Excuse me, but would you like it if I left your room littered with trash?  I don't think so

  • FADED_STAR@xanga

haha i am totally guilty of #4. i yell at other cars on the road all the time!

  • my_favorite_song@xanga

unnecessary quotes bother me so much D:

  • michy8642@xanga

oommmggggg i cant stand when ppl use the wrong spelling for "than" and "then" or "your" and "you're". i also have a friend who says hes ssoo "board" sometimes... im like omg its "bored" lol. i tend 2 do the whole thing with not typing in the apostrophe but thats just me bein lazy... n i tend 2 do that whole narrating while im driving thing hahaha.

i cant stand when someone texts me and ill text them back right away or call them and i dont get a reply/answer... im like hello!! u just wrote 2 me!! and rude ppl.. is it that hard 2 say excuse me when ur trying 2 get past me instead of just hitting into my shoulder and moving along without saying oops sorry??!!

  • Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga

@ShimmerBodyCream@xanga - Once this guy was coughing next to me without covering his mouth & I mimicked him to get his attention. When he looked at me like I was crazy, I told him "now you know how everyone else feels. cover your mouth!". He got embarrassed & moved. XD

  • jupiter312@xanga

I do 5 (but I'm kind of neurotic about things like that) and 4 (but I hate driving with other people in the car).  The other three I agree with completely.

  • sarahzthoughts@xanga

I hate going to restaurants where the waiters pour you water without even asking if you want it. It's so wasteful, and then I feel bad about getting the drink I really want, because otherwise that untouched water is going to be poured down the drain!

I can't stand it when my dorm neighbors through their plastic water bottles in the trash when there's a recycling bin RIGHT NEXT TO IT. And I especially hate it when the people who work at the market on my campus give you plastic bags for EVERYTHING when it may not be needed. If I get a pack of gum, they'll give me a plastic bag when it can go right into my pocket or purse. Or if I get a bottle of juice and a box of cereal, they each go in separate bags, when they could go into the same bag!!!! Do you know how long it takes for those things to decompose in a landfill?!!! Answer: NEVER!

  • whitetrashpoet@xanga

@Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga - Ick I hate that too. Hahaha, when I was like 8, I was at a roller rink or something and had to sneeze really badly but was carrying my skates so I turned to the side and sneezed....on this huge, angry teenage boy. I've literally never been able to sneeze in public again, I always hold it in (without trying) - seriously can't do it! Haha. But I loved this: "I'm big on sharing, but not diseases." Amen!!

  • ZepBlueEyedGirl@xanga

I'm COMPLETELY guilty of the 'narrating my driving' thing.  As for my own pet peeves?  The two that immediately come to mind are grammar (or lack thereof, as you mentioned) and people that eat unnecessarily loudly.
