Don't Pay for Real Uggs, Ladies! Your Guide to the Knockoffs
Via Flickr
Well, there's not avoiding it; it's that time of year! Time to put the flippy-floppies away and pull on something warm and waterproof. For those of us who live in cold, wet parts of the world, we may as well say goodbye to any form of footwear other than boots for the next several months.
Now lets face it, the "Classic Ugg" style boot had its moment in the sun at least five years ago, but they're still everywhere you look. Notice my quotes around the term Ugg, because virtually every popular store that carries boots has a version of this shoe by now. "Uggs" are about as common as a pair of jeans or a hoodie, at least where I live. For me at least, I think this look has more than worn out its welcome in the fashion world, and I feel that there are so many more fashionable, more unique boots out there these days. However, we can't ignore the fact that classic "Uggs" have a lot going for them; they're warm, they're comfy, they're slip-resistant, they're (hopefully) waterproof, and they're very versatile.

I couldn't help snickering to myself recently when my friend complained that her authentic knit Ugg brand boots had leaked in on her the first time she wore them in wet weather. She was angry that she'd paid $140 for this boot that she'd seen on the Ugg website and couldn't live without, only to have them be useless against the elements. She was even more upset to learn that I'd bought a boot that looked almost exactly the same for $40 at Payless... I'd saved $100, and get this? They didn't leak!
I could go into all the reasonably priced lovely fashion boots that are more unique for this year, but that would take forever. Instead, I'd just like to show you some quick research I did on the Ugg style classic boot and its various prices. I hate to see girls wasting hundreds of dollars on name brands when they can achieve the exact same look they want for way less.

^ Ugg $140
^ Famous Footwear $59.99

^ Bakers $59.99
^ Macy's $50.99
^ DSW $49.95

^ Charlotte Russe $29.99

^ Payless $34.99

^ Walmart $12
o, the prices speak for themselves. Now, obviously, I haven't tried out every single boot to see which is the warmest and which is the most waterproof, but the proof is in the pudding, as the saying goes. My friends complain that their expensive Ugg brand boots leak, so if you can't have your cake and eat it too, you might as well have your cake. In other words, get your cheaper non-namebrand boot, get the look you want, and get to keep tens or hundreds of dollars. Don't be that girl who spent all her money just to blend in with the crowd anyway.
Do you own any of these? Are you going to stick to your authentic Uggs?

I got my fake uggs at JCpenneys a year or two ago, I think for under $20 'cause they were on sale. I don't see the point in buying real ones! Most of my 'name brand' stuff is fakes also, like my 'Coach' purse (its a good fake too) that I bought in China for 15 US =]
I have uggs, that were £5 from Primark. And they are just fine.
Ew
My Uggs have never had any problems. My mom always gets them for cheap, anyways, so it's never a big deal. I've never had any leakage problems or anything, either, and I always wear them when it rains too ! ahaha I guess maybe I'm just lucky :P
I looooove Bearpaws though ! I don't like fake ones because they LOOK obvious and very cheap. Not attractive.
buying real uggs is different though, from buying your cheap knock offs.
for teens today, it's the brand name that speaks loud. buying the other brands make them look as if they can't afford as much as the next girl. that's why even though i'm fully aware of similair looking much cheaper boots, i stick with my classic uggs because the brand name is really important and i'm sure it's important for many other girls out there.
eh, i'd buy knock-off knitted boots but the sheepskin ugg alternatives look a bit cheap.
UgG's are UGLY ugly UGLY<<<<just like the way i typed is ugly....all ugly. ugh
my mom got me uggs to wear in the snow... what a joke! they're not meant to be worn in icy conditions and they definitely leak. and they are not comfortable either.
i buy uggs. not fake.
I got my ugg boots (not UGG branded) @ the central market in Australia~ It still costed me 130 dollars. but they lasted me a good 5 yrs. I also owned a pair of trendier cheap ugg boot lookalike but they wore out in about less than a year
(I mean the inside) and felt nowhere near as comfee and soft. I don't like uggs so much for their looks more for their "feel" and "comfortability" which I find the cheaper ones just don't have..compared to the real wool
common sense could tell you that the knitted ones would leak when worn in wet weather......liiiike, come on. Thats why I havent bought a pair because even though they are super cute I would only be able to wear them when the weather outside is dry..no snow. no rain.
the other UGG's are resistant against the elements. LOVE my UGG's. for me there is no subsitute. they are worth the money.
i don't own uggs and i am never buying a pair. i recently bought a pair of minnetonka (sp?) moccasins but that's as far as i'll go.
I hate uggs. Brand name or not. I don't see the obsession. They have had far too much time in the spotlight. They're are far better more trendier boots. Not to mention all the "fashionable" boots on their website look butch. And seriously could they consider not killing so many fucking animals. Sheepskin and leather in like every shoe?
If I have an unexpected windfall, I will end up buying real uggs. Or just when I have enough money to.
I have had 4 or maybe 5 pairs of fake ones (bought some new black ones today actually), and they've all lasted long enough (at least for me. I have awful feet that ruin shoes very easily).
Meanwhile, let me just say to the snotty "i would never wear fake ugg" types, we don't all have enough money to throw £140 of it on a pair of shoes we could get for way cheaper.
Im not a fan of uggs
The knock off doesn't look and last as long as uggs
how about don't pay for real or fake uggs, period?
how about if your gunna wear them get the real ones ?
i'm not a label snob or anything but there completely worth it and plus, there not meant to be worn in the rain like that.its okay to buy the knitted knock offs. but the original sheep skin? uh no. they always cave on in everyone. i spent years buying all the different cheaper ugg knock offs. yeah sure they were warm and comfy and whatever, but those shoes never lasted me more than the winter. i love my uggs <3333 they're the worlds best shoe. ive got 2 pairs, and im going to buy a third. they're completely worth my cash.
i don't like/wear uggs but something about knockoffs bug me.
If I have the money, I am gonna get it, if I don't have the money, oh well, but no way am I gonna buy the 'knock-off'...
$armin<3
Knockoffs rule!
Same thing without the brand name. I'm not paying an extra hundred dollars for a name on my things ;)
I have a pair, not sure how much they were though, they're definitely not authentic, I didn't even know there was an authentic Ugg brand.
Still ugly.
uggs are very ugly, but i still can't turn away from how everyone says they're warm and comfortable
>>
i might want to try~
