South Asian Fashion

I was very surprised when my dad told me that there were South Asian designers on the catwalks of Milan Fashion Week (yes, I know that was way back in September). I do like South Asian Fashion, so was very interested to see what they came out with.
I tend to only wear traditional clothes at weddings, and am always looking for ways to modernise them. I always find it really uncomfortable to wear them for more than a few hours at a time, so I happily welcome any modern and comfortable ideas for them.
They were being showcased in Milan on the 30th September 2009, as part ‘N-U-DE New Upcoming Designers Project’, launched by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana to enhance international designers.
I'm looking at three designers that were there: Deepak Perwani, Maheen Khan and Rizwan Bey.
Hopefully I can look into each designer in depth some time in the future, but for now, here are the photos from the show:
These first pictures are from Deepak Perwani. The colours and styles of his clothes are magnificent. I googled him a while back and some of his collections are fantastic.
These next ones are from Maheen Khan:
And finally, these ones are from Rizwan Bey. They have to be my favourite from all of the collections.
All pictures from Dawn Newspaper. Which ones are your favourites and are there any out of these 3 designers that you'd like me to research some more?

Not really, the last ones are probably my favourite.
I don't really like any of them. The last 3 pictures are okay, but I still don't really like them.
I think they are all gorgeous. I really an drawn to that "traditional" pattern that is incorporated in the outfits up there, I also find the scarf ensemble adorable.
I like the first two, but I REALLY like Deepak Perwani.Traditional patterns and colors with a twist. :)
I do like the orange scraves
Nice to see cultural diversity spreading in the fashion industry now.

Wonderful splashes of colors, and great job of keeping their tradition intact as well. If they added a tint of modernity into it, would be a great adhesion. .Imo, that is.
Glad to know that the fashion world is gradually opening its doors to other cultures.
Rizwan Bey, although frankly I love them all.
I don't really like them. These aren't my type of fashion.
cute!
not my cup of tea.
it's cute, but i wouldn't wear it.
@mewithoutu77@xanga - A lot of fashion shows show clothing that you wouldn't really wear... It's art.
omg, i want to try that extremely colorful dress/skirt
The collection from Bey is just... amazing.
I don't get why South Asian fashion can't be worn by South Asian women on the catwalks...
Being Asian, I love it.
