Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai was a guest on the Oprah Winrey show
recently and sparked some controversy with her viewers by wearing a non-traditional
black sari. Wearing black in India can be uncomfortable because of the scorching heat. "The darker the fabric, the more light is absorbed and the hotter the wearer becomes."
But a Swiss company has developed a new fabric that makes the skin temperature of the person wearing it 9 degrees lower than a person who is wearing any black fabric. Schoeller Textil's
Coldblack technology has been used for motorcycle, golf and mountain biking sports wear. Hugo Boss has also used the fabric for their last spring/summer collection. The cost of this new discovery varies a bit but is still reasonable.
I tend to avoid black clothes in the summer but if more designers picked up this fabulous idea to lower your skin temperature, I would definitely give in.
Do you avoid black clothes in the heat? Would you try this fabric?

Id try it. I love wearing the color black :) Unless its TOO pricey..
I wear black all year long. I don't really own anything colourful. Apart from socks and underwear haha. So black stuff in summer without feeling like you're about to melt sounds like a good idea to me :) x
Ash can do no wrong! (Avid fan here.)
I see nothing wrong with wearing black. I wouldn't necessarily wear all black in the middle of summer, but that has more to do with me not liking to be hot more so than anything else.
Gawd, she's beautiful. Nothing's wrong with wearing black. I wear it a lot.
Black fades which is why I tend to avoid it.
As far as wearing all black in summer...well I don't usually. Mostly beca yes it does make one feel hotter, and my summer clothes tend to be more colorful and flirty. :)
@THiiNSPiiR3_M3@xanga - I agree with all your words. I love black & I wear it all the time too. I wish people would let go of that ridiculous stigma of "if you wear black all the time, you're depressed" or other crap like that. If someone wears yellow all the time, does that mean they're bright & cheery 24/7? lol
@Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga - Haha yeahh. I've been called a goth sooo many times and it's like "Okay i'm wearing black, but it's not like i'm dressed like marilyn manson. I'm not a goth just because i wear black" lol. From what i know, people that love the colour yellow actually do tend to be freakishly happy people, it's quite odd lmao x
i would try it.
i love wearing black.haha. i wear whatever color no matter the heat.xo
I constantly wear black. I don't ever feel warmer in it than in other clothes. Since I am cold all the time, I would welcome that even more if it were the case!
Oh, Aishwarya Rai is the most beautiful women. Now, that women can top Megan Fox. My Dad always gives my brother and I hell for wearing sweaters and black during the summertime. Although, it is kind of silly.
Wow she looks amazing! Now THAT'S a dress!
1. She is GORGEOUS.
2. Yeah, sure, why not ? ahaha I wear black all year-round. That would only make life even better !
Majority of my clothes are black.
And that dress makes her body look immensely curvy.
I don't really pay attention. I like black.
Interesting.
goddamn that woman is gorgeous *_________________*
look at those curves! im soooo jealous DD:
but hmm yeah i dont really like black clothing either. i live in san diego and it's regularly around 70-80 degrees most of the time so im just like dying by the end of the day lol. so i just wear shorts and stuff.
@THiiNSPiiR3_M3@xanga - lol I know right. From what I heard about color & personality test, it goes by what color you like & appeals to you. My favorite color is purple. The only reason why I dont wear it as often as black is because good purple clothes are hard to find. XD when I see tees & accessories, I grab them!
@Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga - Haha, well my fave colour's black but i'm pretty cheerful most of the time :/ haha. Ahh yeah, i don't really see purple clothes that often :/ apart from shoes lol. I seem to always find purple shoes :) x
@snapeful@xanga - I wish I could see the west coast. Atleast you get some climate changes. I'm stuck in Florida for the time being & they only have 3 seasons: Hot, Hotter & ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!. The only time it got cold was the aftermath of hurricane wilma. It was 30 degrees for about a week & a half & it was blissful. I miss my home up north. I'm visiting soon but Cali is on my list next.
I sometimes do avoid wearing black, but only when I know I'll be out and in the heat for a long time. I usually wear black anyway, though. It makes up a lot of my wardrobe. I'm not sure if I would try this out since it's not really a big deal to me.
What bothers me more about wearing the color black is that people automatically think you're goth or depressed. Or when people seem to be afraid of the color. It's just a color; it's ok if I'm wearing black clothes or painted my nails black. -.-
I wear black during every season. The heat bothers me but I deal with it.
huzzah
i love wearing black...it makes me look thinner and taller. which i love.
yep & yep :)
