  • What's So Wrong with Wearing Black?

Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai was a guest on the Oprah Winrey show recently and sparked some controversy with her viewers by wearing a non-traditional black sari.  Wearing black in India can be uncomfortable because of the scorching heat. "The darker the fabric, the more light is absorbed and the hotter the wearer becomes."

But a Swiss company has developed a new fabric that makes the skin temperature of the person wearing it 9 degrees lower than a person who is wearing any black fabric.  Schoeller Textil's Coldblack technology has been used for motorcycle, golf and mountain biking sports wear.  Hugo Boss has also used the fabric for their last spring/summer collection.  The cost of this new discovery varies a bit but is still reasonable.

I tend to avoid black clothes in the summer but if more designers picked up this fabulous idea to lower your skin temperature, I would definitely give in.

Do you avoid black clothes in the heat?  Would you try this fabric?
