  • Britney Lip Syncs at Concert, People Actually Shocked

People in Australia is up in arms about Britney Spears' Circus tour, which is currently fluttering through Australia.

200 fans in Perth walked out of the show, upset because the singer wasn't actually singing during the show.

According to Splash News: "One disappointed audience member said the show was "boring" and "stiff." Another audience member who paid $148 for her ticket added, "It was so impersonal. She did not interact with her audience."

Ok, I actually saw Britney's Circus show when it came to Newark, and I have to say to these people: DUH! Of course she's lip syncing. Britney mimes through all of her concerts. Attribute it to the fact that all her dancing and moving around makes it difficult to sing clearly, or just that her voice is weak, but still! You know what you're getting into with Brit-Brit.

My Circus show may have been low on musical talent, but it was high on entertainment value. And isn't that why we all like Britney, anyway?

As John Mayer tweeted about the whole thing:

    Lol.

Do you care that Britney lip syncs? Would you pay to go to a Britney show or another show that did it?

durr, so what if she lip syncs I don't think she can sing anyway! And why waste money on that? You could have gone to the strip club and seen the same thing

If that's the way she wants to run her show then that's her and her fans business. But for me, I don't understand why artists do so much jumping around on stage that it stresses them so they have to lip sync. If you can really sing, then only do so much that you can still sing. I get the entertainment value, but I feel that lip syncing is like lying. Why not just play the music and get up their and dance, at least be up front about it.

I would definitely go, lol...whether that makes me a loser or not. I've loved Britney since I was like 12. I don't care if she can sing live or not, as long as the show is good.

A local radio personality said that Britney Spears is a "Glorified stripper" because she's half-naked dancing to prerecorded music. Thank you, Ralph Garman. Can we even call her a musician? If she wins awards for lip syncing and for albums that have vocal help then give Milli Vanilli their award back.

yeaaaah she's syncs about 75% of her concerts ._.

It definitely makes sense when you bring the dancing portion into it. How can you understand what she's singing when she's jerking her body in so many different ways and pulling so many different stunts at the same times? Try singing in a car on a bumpy road...it's pretty much the same thing.

If she didn't lip sync, she'd probably sound like Miley when everyone was freaking out if she said "You're gay" instead of "Your game" in her song, 7 Things. She was out of breath because she was jerking her head around.

Though the parts you shouldn't have to lip sync are the slow songs. There's not much excuse for that unless you have a rustic throat.

i'm going to her concert tonight in Melbourne!

my high school life wouldnt have been what it was without her and her music =)

It has been clearly stated before,Britney spears is an entertainer..not a singer..but an entertainer..completely different aspects ...and she is a damn good entertainer at that!

  • loveashii@xanga

You don't think we have the right to be 'up in arms'? She's a fucking singer, that's what she's paid to do. Entertainment wise, she's good to watch, sure. But if I wanted to see someone lip sync i'd watch my little brother perform it in our lounge room, that would probably be better value anyway.

She should step up and learn to sing AND dance, others do it, it's not that hard. And if she can't do that then maybe she should cut out all the stripper moves from her show.
  • Vacantwhispers@xanga

I don't know why are people always so surprised at what she does. (Or doesn't do.)

  • nerdishh8D@xanga

If you're willing for fork over 150 bucks to see Britney Spears in concert, then you deserved to be lip synced at. >.>

  • Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga

I don't think artists are generally good at singing live in general. When they are though, that's when I'm truly impressed.

@nerdishh8D@xanga - You are the best chick on earth. Will you marry me?

  • oO_Grace_Oo@xanga

    not a surprise..for some reason

  • yukarimayhem@xanga

uh id trade tickets with them :) id LOVE to go to her show :)
    shes coming sydney soon yay!!

  • sarahzthoughts@xanga

The dancing and stuff may be entertaining, but if anyone wants to be a singer, then the actual singing should be the focus of the concert. Otherwise, you don't deserve the title. I never considered her a "singer" anyway.

Weird. I wrote this exact same entry a couple days ago.

  • tigerdauphin@xanga

Not many singers can actually sing live.  My first, and only live concert, was disappointing.

But I do realize it's because of the constant dancing around.  So that's why I'd rather keep my money and just get the songs instead.  It's not as if going to the concerts (anything other than small local bands of course) will actually be personal and up close.  They're most likely specks in the distance.

  • BlehhItsTu@xanga

She fails. You're wasting your money seeing her lipsync. I've seen videos of her actual performance. She can NOT sing and dance at the same time. You'd be surprised how much of a better singer you are when you're dancing.. compared to Britney.

  • IntheGoldenWest@xanga

Are you kidding me? How are they fans of Britney and are completely oblivious to her lip-synching?

The thing is, in my opinion at least, Britney is an entertainer. She's not the greatest musical icon of all time. She's not. She's just an entertainer, and a well-known one that is common to see/hear in the pop genre. I think people expect too much of her.
Don't get me wrong, it's better to actually have a really, really good voice and be really, really talented and amazing. I prefer to see that, obviously. But that's just not Britney. I just accept her as an entertainer that's fun to watch. Seeing her as that, I like her.
  • KliffyTaicho@xanga

She's BEEN doing that forever.  She got in trouble with it a long time ago.  Like...pre-insane years. So how could people get upset.  Cmon guys lets get real huh?

  • UnopenedSuitcases@xanga

lol. i didnt know that but i'm not surprised. why should i be?

  • MsKittyCatty@xanga
  • feelslikejuly@xanga

Why pay almost 200 dollars to see a woman lip-sync? I could spend zero dollars and watch someone sing on youtube. LOL
