  • Lolita Fashion in Japan

    Lolita

Lolita is an extreme fashion in Japan that is mainly influenced by Victorian clothing but with some added originality and subgroups to keep the uniqueness of the clothes. A costume could cost over $100 CDN so most people usually make their own.

And for clarification, no, not everyone in Japan wears this everyday; it's like only a certain amount of teenagers in Japan do so. The Lolita is broken up into different categories but as you look through the pictures, you get the idea.

Gothic Lolita: (above) Usually a darker side of Lolita consisting black, white, plaided red, some skulls and knee high leather boots.

    Lolita

Sweet Lolita: The contrasting sweet innocent side consisting of roses, pink, white, bows and ribbons. They focus a lot on youth, some extreme sweet Lolita dressers will do pig tails and carry a teddy bear or some kind of adorable stuff animal prop to focus on their youth.

Classic Lolita: It's not as sickenly sweet nor is it gothic in any way. The elegant Lolita is usually white and/or black and the style is closer to the Victorians.

    Lolita

Punk Lolita: Stripes, red, chains, belts... a more boyish rebellious style.

    Lolita

Traditional (Wa) Lolita: Uses traditional kimonos but it’s usually shortened to a mini skirt.

    Lolita

Prince (Ouji) Lolita: A version for guys, they are more simplistic, usually full on black or maybe sometimes a white shirt with a black vest, their main focuses are on accessories.

What do you think about the fashion? Interesting? Would you ever try it, even just for a photoshoot? Which version would you like the best?
