I have found four intricately designed dresses that are recession proof, ladies. Not one, not two, not even three, but four! These dresses range from casual to cocktail.
I noticed I never liked dresses until I hung around my girlfriends more and more everyday. When I shop in packs with them I noticed the first things we go to are the dresses, then shoes, and then accessories. For the past three years my closet has tripled in the dress department. And the problem isn't the dress but that I tend to buy dresses that for a special occasion like a very important party or holiday. But I did find the solution: convertible dresses. One size fits all, versatile styles, and a different look for everyday of the week.
1.
American Apparel's Le Sac dress is made in 26 various colors with the low price of $38. The Le Sac dress has a more contemporary look. I have been tempted many times to buy this dress. But that is why someone invented Christmas lists.
2.
Kariza Designs has this fun gypsy like element and they only use silk fabrics. I first came across this brand in St. Augustine, FL but I also found them at local stores near the gulf. On their site it is $79, but my friend bought hers for $25.
3.
Victoria's Secret has a ruched convertible collection. This dress goes for $88 which is understandable. It being ruched makes this convertible stand out from the crowd. Definitely a dress you can order a martini in.
4.
Monif C. "Marilyn Collection" caters to plus sizes, very well I might add. This dress goes for $195. May I remind you it pays to look good.
And I borrowed my friend's Kariza Designs on our night out in St. Augustine. See I know what I'm talking about.
Do you like convertible dresses or own any already?

i don't understand what you mean by recession proof when these dresses are a bit expensive.
I usually find really cute dresses at thrift stores, and heck target on the clearance rack! they do me just as well, plus 195? i don't consider that much of a recession dress so i have to agree with @XoAsianBabioX@xanga
forever 21 dresses are more recession proof then these O.o 100+? ew. I can get a dress for like 20-30 bucks.
Well they all said it above. These dresses are pretty expensive. I just bought a dress at Forever 21 for $22.85. Now I think that's recession proof!
@fivepointfourtwo@xanga - lol I was just writing this
I love that first dress from American Apparel.
@XoAsianBabioX@xanga - They're recession proof because they're convertible. More dresses in one, sort of thing.
Really, these dresses are cute, but I'd rather buy multiple less expensive ones from Ebay or second hand for the same price. This could just be my prejudice against convertible dresses. They always tend to look great in the magazine or on the webpage, but when you're trying to twist, tie, and snap on your own, it usually comes out looking less than splendid.
its recession proof because you can wear them in many different ways, and not just one style over and over again. I love these types of dresses I own the american apparel one I also like their other convertible dress the one made out of jersey material.
ooooh i want the first one.
I want to see how they look after they've been converted. Va va voom to the Victoria's Secret dress. Anyone who can pull that off deserves a free martini.
they are nice, but no way are these "recession-proof" too expensive to deserve that title.
I really like the second one by Kariza Designs. Yes, I have some convertible/versatile dresses and tops. I bought 4 tops at Arden B, which was a buy 1 at sale price, free 1 for $5. I usually do not buy this many shirts, but at this price and sale it was like getting 4 versatile tops for the price of 1. I'm set for holiday events, girls night out and even a casual museum trip no problem for several months.
As for the prices $79-$88 is more of a moderate price (the lower half of moderate IMO), but that's why one should watch for sales and check wholesale/outlet stores online.
Here's a few more options similar to Kariza Designs, but less expensive. http://zozadesigns.com/

The last one is a bit expensive.
Meh, not into it.
bahaha wow, I never would have thought that $195 was considered reasonable !
I don't like any of them.
I'll stick with Forever 21 <3
And any clearance racks. :D
@XoAsianBabioX@xanga - Exactly. Im hoping someone can clarify. Just cause you can wear something more than one way shouldn't count...you can do that with almost anything...and it usually costs a lot less!
Lol, a good deal to me is ten bucks. I like the second one, though.
I still think 38 bucks for a dress is expensive...
anything more than $25 for a cute dress is a bit ehhhh. the most expensive dress i have was $75 for prom. i have a lot of classy and casual dresses as well, but i've managed to have them for all under $30 i believe. american eagle, charlotte russe, forever 21, and delia*s are my favourite stores to shop from on clearence.
I like the first two.
the second dress is beautuful! and how is $195 recession proof?
@XoAsianBabioX@xanga - i agreee....
i like the first dress though
I live in vancouver. Would any of those look good with rain boots?
