Guy's View: Do Men Age Better Than Women?
Do men age better than women? Well, I did just do a post about how good John Stamos looks at age 72. Brad Pitt and Denzel have got to be getting up there in age, yet they are still considered top of their class. Jack Nicholson and Sean Connery are old as fuck and yet if they are seen with some young hottie it is no surprise.
Is it so different for women though. It used to be that 30 was considered old for women. Now 40 is the new 20. Cougars are all the rage these days thanks in large part to cougar pioneers like Demi Moore, Kim Cattrall and the Desperate Housewives chicks. Being a "mature" woman no longer carries as much of the stigma that it used to.
One thing that I've always found to be true is that women are better looking than men. I am not just saying this because I am a heterosexual male either. I am not afraid to say when a man is good looking. Women just look better is all.
Yesterday I was watching Knocked Up with my lady. We got to the part in the movie where a pregnant Katherine Heigel and her older sister get bounced from a club because of the fact that they are pregnant and old. The bouncer, played by Craig Robinson, gave one of my favorite speeches ever in this scene;
"It's not cause you're not hot, I would love to tap that ass. I would tear that ass up. I can't let you in cause you're old as fuck. For this club, you know, not for the earth."
Now after they are bounced from the club, older sister Debbie starts cring about her youth being gone. She complains that it's not fair that her husband will get better and better looking, while she'll just get old. At this point my girlfriend turns to me and exclaims, "She's right damnit! You are going to look so good when you get older, meanwhile I don't know what's going to happen to me."
Is this true? So let's just assume for a minute that socety embraces older women and men equally. If this is the case then it comes down to looks only. Do older men look better than older women in general? Despite my contention that women look better than men, I have to say that men do age older. I said before that women have more to love. This in turn means that when they age, they have more that goes south.
Women have soft smooth features that get tough and wrinkly as they get older. This is often much less noticeable in men because there is not as drastic of a change. Women have to worry about how gravity will affect their breasts and their butts, and how children will affect so many other things. Men, well men have to just watch their beer intake.
This guy may have had one too many.Now the question arises as to whether or not this is fair. Well women, let's see here. You guys get to be the better looking gender for the most of our prime years, which means you get free drinks, free dinners, free movie tickets, and general dominion over the male species, you have a longer life expectancy because of the fact that men have to deal with you, and by the time your looks fade you are going through menopause, which means people have to be nice to you no matter how hideous you become because they fear you.
I'd say that makes things pretty fair.
Do you agree with this? Do men and women age differently?

that guys stomach...just looks painful :0
how men and women age is entirely subjective; based mainly on genetics and how they take care of themselves, not on gender. i've know plenty of men that by their mid-20s are practically bald, fat, and just generally look ragged; meanwhile, i know plenty of women in their 30s that are still thin and hot. and of course vice versa (hot older men, raggedy 25-yo women). it really just depends on the person.
I'm not really sure, all I'm sure about is that Angelina looks better with age :)
Is that guy... real?
I'm pretty sure John Stamos isn't 72, he's only in his 40s or so. Wikipedia says 46.
That guy looks like he swallowed a beach ball!
lol what the shit is that last picture
it looks so pop-able >>
i call shooped
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact women are more likely to go through a lot of yo yo dieting, pills, procedures, salon tanning, experimenting with serums/creams, botox, malnutrition (due to dieting), etc.. all that stuff would most likely equal to a downslope in the physical department later in life.
that picture of the man.. just made me
stop
&
stare.
I think it's cause women do a lot more shit to themselves. Make up ages you and etc etc like someone before me said
john stamos isn't even close to 59 like you said in your article.. and definitely not 72.
John Stamos, for a 40 year old, REALLY looks good. I'll be the first to admit that :D
But uhh, I think it really depends on the genes.
If you're destined to look old, you'll look old - no matter the gender.
I mean, look at Jennifer Aniston. She's in her 40s and still looks the same as she did in Friends!
With celebrities, I don't think you can really tell if that's their real genetics or if they got botox. I'm sure they got some things done cause it's not possible that MOST female celebrities look better than males. Oh, it could also be the makeup if it isn't any botox.
I think if you're a genuinely good person... you age beautifully regardless of if you're a man or a woman (I was about to say "regardless of sex"... but it could have been read the wrong way
)
most chinese, korean, and japanese actresses age extremely well in comparison to white actresses... but that's a rather skewed scale.
Hah. Your reasoning is pitch-perfect.
that picture...lol
Oh NO!!!!
that picture CANNOT be real ...
... right?
I agree, I find the older men get the better looking they get. Where woman do everything in their power to stop aging and end up looking gross.
there have been studies indicating that as a man gets older, his value financially increases, while a woman's decreases as she gets older. (older = middle-aged + in this scenario) I think it's a societal construct: older man = successful, older woman =...old? lol, I dunno but it's usually not necessarily associated with success or financial security.
Lolol.
Stamos is smoking~. As for that guy in the last picture... Not so much.
for both men and women, it all depends how you take care of yourself. obviously if you're eating fast food regularly, never exercising, constantly tanning etc. you won't age very well.
i do think men and women age differently though. i've noticed women tend to wrinkle before men do, while men tend to go gray faster than women and even lose hair.
@HereInMyVoid@xanga - what she said. That and society is more accepting of old men than women.
@lovezpassion@xanga - Agreed.
The end to this post made me laugh.
It depends entirely upon a person not a gender as a whole. Aging well has to do with genes and the lifestyle one leads.
