When Does Airbrushing Go Too Far?
During a recent trip to my local mall, I stumbled upon the ad pictured above. I had to do a double take to be sure that the model was indeed Demi Moore. A twenty-five year old version of Demi Moore, that is ¾ courtesy of a massive amount of airbrushing.
The forty-six year old actress is featured with completely wrinkle-free, flawless skin. I realize all ads are airbrushed, but is the one above taking things too far?
How much airbrushing is too much?

lol she looks like plastic
It's subjective. I don't care if they photoshop or airbrush people in advertisments.
When you don't recognize the celeb is when it's too much for me. I actually like this picture though.
one word "plastic" just weird.
i think it's absolutely unneccessary, being that demi moore is attractive as it is, but taking it too far? i don't think so. it's going to sell the product.
Wow, she looks like a life-sized doll or something.
@galadrielspitcher@xanga - agreed
look friggin gorgeous.
but look the hand thats holding the perfume bottle. look at her wrist... hahahahaha. is it just me or does it look like it got a little bit too much photoshop? aahahaha.
i think airbrushing is fine. it never goes too far as long as it achieves the desired effect. advertising is a business, and through photoshop, they've managed to amalgamate the allure of demi moore (who is, after all, the name behind the product) and youthful aesthetic appeal.
fake.
hell i can make my pictures look like that too. but does that make me want the procuct? umm no
She looks like a doll. I laughed when you said she looks like a 25-year-old, because I'm 25 and my skin is definitely not that perfect! I don't know that she's supposed to look real though.
Makes me want to laugh.. No one has that glow!! lol :]
@hotpinkstarberry@xanga - agreed.
its an ad. they are trying to sell things. demi moore doesn't walk around her house looking flawless trying to sell ashton perfume. but thats what shes doing in this ad. because its an AD....
@MissPixieGlitter@xanga - my thoughts exactly

28/11 is the my love's birthday,
I create this xanga as I hope I can have 1128 CM to wish my love happy birthday and to suprise her
plz leave a CM and INVITE YOUR FRIENDS to do the same,
thx.
I would love to see what the original picture looked like.
Nothing wrong with fake :D its how companies sell, how the media work. Fake is working, people are buying, whether or not they are tricked doesn't matter, society is shaping our standards and perspectives. Making the world go round =]

wow.. it looks so fake
i didn't notice it was her when i first looked at the picture.. until i read you said it was her.
she;s unrecognizable. she didn't even look that flawless at 25. i don't like airbrushing or the new technique they now use, like the one in benjamin button, because it oversells the product's capabilities. there is a word for it, folks: LYING.
and i know all about it because i was in adverstising.
maybe they're making a point. the ad is "all you've ever wanted".
We all expect airbrushing, but when it makes her look like she's mid 20s when she realistically look a bit older (albeit nowhere near her actual age) then it's too far.
it's false advertising so yes.
