The British are coming! The British are coming! In the '60s there was a big hysteria about the British invasion in not only music (The Beatles), but in fashion and films. 2009 has presented us with a new set of British leading ladies who are making themselves household names in the US.
Elle's Women in Hollywood issue featured 5 different covers, including Emily Blunt. You may remember her from "The Devil Wears Prada." She has acted in indie films and is set to star in "The Wolfman" with Benecio del Toro in 2010. Recently, she got engaged to John Krasinski (Jim from "The Office"), such a great couple! She is one of our great young actors that will hopefully have a long, fulfilling career.
We are all now familiar with Alexa Chung... now it's time to meet Jameela Jamil. She is U.K.'s newest TV presenter with great style. She follows in Alexa's footsteps as being the host of T4, which is Channel 4 in London. At 23, she is living her dream!
And in the music world there is Little Boots. Some call her the British version of Lady Gaga. They were both called "the future of pop" but let's not compare and just recognize her for her music. At 25 she is playing her own instruments, writing her own songs and climbing the Billboard charts internationally. Listen to her latest single:
Who is your favorite British artist or actor?

British accents make me melt into a little puddle instantly.
I can't say I have a favorite British celebrity, but I'm definitely an Anglophile. I prefer my suits, my cars, my women and my drink all from here.

@boilingicicle@xanga - Yay, another Boosh fan! :) If you like Noel Fielding, I recommend watching Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Noel's on that show as well. :)
I'm a huge fan of Noel Fielding and Russell Brand. Some of my favourite British TV shows are the Mighty Boosh, the IT Crowd, Russell Brand's Ponderland, QI, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Mock the Week, and Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.
Bring on the Jaffa Cakes and PG tips! :D
@journalofsparkles@xanga - Â haha, I never really mind getting Rick Rolled. I have his songs on my IPod <3.Â
I don't consider myself a phile anything, but I do think outside of the box and I've kept in touch with some pop/ non-pop things in other places besides my homeland.Â
I like Helen Mirren just because of Prime Suspect. I find myself liking a lot of past British indie bands and some recent soul artists too. Pretty much a big fan of the Mod Culture.Â
