  • Does It Pay to Buy Shoes at Payless?

Does It Pay to Buy Shoes at Payless? in prog

Payless Shoes are the most tempting thing in the world. They're ridiculously cheap and come in the latest styles. For $12.99 a pair, of course you want to pick up those lime green wedges!

But seriously, Lovelies, I've never actually had a satisfying and long-lasting relationship with a pair of kicks from Payless. Within a couple days of wearing them, they're giving me blisters and pinching on my heels, and my dreamily inexpensive shoes are soon lying in the Salvation Army pile. Sometimes I think it's just better to save up and invest in a more expensive pair of shoes that will last a long time than to blow gabs of money on flimsy, poorly constructed ones that leave my feet cranky and sore.

Do you have any Payless shoes? Do they last? Do you like them more than I do?

I don't weat payless shoes. I have a certain style and type I like the best.

I used to shop at Payless, but they hurt my feet and were poor quality. Now I buy name brands from places like Ross. Good stuff. :D

i suppose if you have a child who's in that stage where they just never seem to stop growing, it would pay off. kids go through shoes so fast, why spend $30-60 a pair for something that'll last them no time at all?

or if you need special occasion shoes. you don't wear them all the time, and certainly not every day, it wouldn't make sense to spend a fortune.

but for every day shoes for a person who has stopped growing, the better option is to spend the extra money to get a nice pair of shoes that'll last you a year or two, rather than a couple months.

i fall into the last category. the shoes are very tempting, yes, but i know they won't last me a month.

    I always buy cheap shoes.
I'm too poor to do much else, haha. Payless is pretty much awesome, in my opinion.

I have also had this experience.. Its either the shoes kill your feet or fall apart in a week.

  • chipshmunk@xanga

I had a pair of flats from there for like 3 years and didn't have a problem until some one stepped on my foot and broke the strap. It was a very tragic ending. I usually have a problem with expensive shoes, I wear them a couple times in hopes that I just need to break them in but they are always uncomfortable and just plain horrible so then they just lay around.

  • jupiter312@xanga

I buy tennis shoes from there because I kill them within a year no matter how expensive they are.

  • lauradork@xanga

i like that place but they never have the shoes i like in my size.  i have extremley small feet.

  • d0llh0use@xanga

you get what you pay for.

  • snapeful@xanga

i buy occasionally from them but not often at all anymore.. i want more heels and ankle boots but none of the good styles are in size 5 or even 5.5s (but then again i've only checked 3 stores in my area and i dont like shopping online). i do have many sandals and a pair of nice heels from their place and it's lasted well enough for me (one pair of flipflops has lasted since i was 13, most sandals i have hav been in constant use for a year+ at least)... perhaps it's your lifestyle? i live in southern california if that makes a difference? and i don't do a lot of rigorous exercise.

  • Super___Connected@xanga

I have weird feet that get blisters with just about any new pair of shoes, so I figure I'd rather pay $17.99 for a pair of heels that will give me blisters rather than a $59.99 pair.

I love my Payless shoes though. I get compliments whenever I wear them.

  • betterdesigned@xanga

I haven't shopped at Payless for 10 years and I don't plan to start now.

  • Erika_Steele@xanga

You get what you pay for.  The majority of the shoes from Payless look like they were from Payless.

  • annacstars40@xanga

I always buy sneakers. I've bought a pair of A&E boots under Payless, and my sneakers lasted me 2-3 years and I'm still wearing those boots. Maybe you're just picking the wrong brands or kinds of shoes you get. I always hunt to find the perfect shoes and the cheapest ones and I've gotten lucky thus far! :)

  • Swhatley@xanga

I have to say my Payless is awesome. Shoes wear for a long time and they are cheap.

  • WhenHateIsTheOnlyOption@xanga

I think payless shoes and name brand shoes are pretty much the same only the other has a big name. I think Payless shoes are of good quality and last long. If your feet hurt from wearing heels then your feet can't handle heels. Your feet are going to hurt wearing a pair of a thousand dollar heels, regardless. So let's not ruin the reputation of a store because a pair of heels aren't comfortable.

  • coldfaceblush@xanga

yeah, I feel like my feet hurt from all shoes. This is not a payless-exclusive experience. And the shoes are cute.

  • FindingxPerfection@xanga

I love payless. I buy a lot of my shoes from there, and they're all in good condition. Obviously, my flats are going to be more comfortable than any heels I buy, but for the most part, I don't get blisters or horrible foot pains. Maybe my feet are just better shaped for those shoes.

Plus, I love that they have a decent selection of many sizes. I wear a 4 1/2 W, and it's ridiculously hard to find shoes at more expensive places. If I have to get an M shoe, I usually have to buy a 5 1/2 or a 6. They never have wides, and they never have small enough shoes. Payless has more of a selection for me. Plus, my shoe size is always on the clearance rack, so I get even cheaper deals.

  • MauTimHoaSim@xanga

I buy shoes from Payless or Target and they usually last for years.  I don't see the need to waste money to brand names.

  • whowantstoloseit@xanga

I've had good and bad experiences with Payless. My biggest problem with them is that all of their shoes (especially sneakers) are so obviously knock-off versions of better brands. I know that's the point, but I can't stand it when it's so blatant. Their Vans and Converse styles make me cringe. Luckily, I'm more of a flats girl now, anyway. Still don't shop there.

  • makerm7@xanga

I have a pair of $8 shoes from there (on sale) that I wear almost every day for a little over a year now.  They still look great, and I always get compliments on them.  I <3 payless.  90% of my shoes are from there, and if I DO happen to wear them out, then it's just an excuse to buy another pair of shoes!

Payless shoes' quality is so cheap, even when you pay like 30 bucks for a pair of regular flats. I hate Payless with a passion.

  • yced@xanga

    @soyeahthatswhathappened@xanga - I couldn't have said that better.

  • a_single_raindrop@xanga

I bought a pair of sandals from Payless a while back, and after trying them on outside the mall, I realized they hurt my feet a lot. I had to return them the next day. -_-
