Use hairspray, that's what I use, but not too much to where you notice it.
Use a hotter straightener and try paul mitchell's skinny serum
Sometimes I forget how hard it is for people to have straight hair. Mine wont curl or go wavy at all! Even if i hairspray it. My hair is very straight.
You need a better/ hotter hair straightener 200-400F would do the trick
Maybe you're running the straighteners through the hair too fast? Dragging it through your hair slower might help.
I am the same way, and a hotter and better quality hair straightener won't work!
Most serums won't either. I know because I've tried every single trick in the book- including buying a $150 hair straightener! Worthless!
I think it mostly happens due to humidity. Here is a great product that has worked for me, even in the hot humid summertime. It can be found in most drug stores- it isn't rare!
Got2BCrazy Sleek: http://www0.epinions.com/review/Got2b_Got_2B_Crazy_Sleek_Blow_Dry_Lotion_Spray_8_5_oz/content_442387107460
There's a trick to this: when your hair is wet, spray into your HAND instead of directly onto your head and spread it all over your head. Brush through with a comb, then blowdry completely and flatiron.
It's a miracle product. I've tried salon products out the butt and this little cheap guy is the only one that has worked!
@CuriousiTea@xanga - omg ! i use the same thing and it works like magic ! (:
thank god for this post. i DESPERATELY need help keeping my hair straight.
i use a hair straightening serum, paul mitchell to be exact, when my hair is wet. i put the serum in and then blow dry the hair and then straighten it. it's a lot of heat, but also use a heat protector on top of the serum.
I have extremely curly hair and my hair curls up real fast after straightening, but my straightner works wonders! I have an ISO, ISP?? Something like that. I let it sit for a few minutes to warm up and then straighten my hair. If I wash my hair before hand I usually blow dry it.
I reccommend getting a CHI straightener. I'm still experimenting with what products to use but I realized that less is more, because using too much leaves gunk on my straightener and just makes my hair look greasy.
i use a lot of conditoner, and i have a straightner that straightens wet hair. that does the trick for me. :)
Maybe you just need a trim. When my hair grows past a certain point, it's useless to even attempt to straighten it. My hair sounds like yours (straight-wavy), so maybe that's all you need. :)
I have a chi hair straightener and I use hairspray after I get done straightening it. Also, as soon as you're done with the straightener, put your hair dryer on cool and blow the cool air on your hair. That helps to settle everything and cool your hair down faster so your style stays put sooner.
I have curly hair and the only thing that did the trick was a CHI. They last for at least a year (although usually a lot longer) and you can find them for as low as $50 if you shop around online. I'd recommned buying it in the 1 inch style, it makes straightening much easier. Good luck! :)
I also have a CHI hair straightener. It really helps keep my hair not only straight, but undamaged. :D
Use hotter straightners and/or use some hairspray?
get a japanese straightening if you keep your hair straight daily.
honestly, it's worth the money. mine lasts for almost two years.
I use a Chi straightener - dunno what I'd do without it.
I have thick medium-long hair, and it straightens my hair with no problem. I divide it into two sections ( I clip the top half of my hair up, straighten, then let that part down and straighten it.
I also use the Chi silk infusion stuff (its like an oil); I put like a pea-sized amount in my palms, warm up then spread throughout my hair before straightening.
And lately I've gotten where I straighten my hair after it's air dried, instead of blow-drying it. It seems to leave in some moisture which helps.
Start off with a heat protectant lotion. I use Got2B Super Sleek or something like that. It holds and protects. Blowdry it straight then use a Chi Iron and finish with hairspray. If that doesn't work, use a stove. I suggest getting it done by a professional because they get super hot.
Paul mitchell straighteners work WAAAAAAAAAAY better than the chi. I had both and i immediately saw the difference..its a little bit more expensive but the results are worth it :)
I used to have this problem all the time. I had a straightener with metal plates, and as soon as I got one with ceramic plates, I noticed a huge difference. I also started using Herbal Essences "Dangerously Straight" hairspray, which keeps it pretty straight.
it depends on the straightener. the hotter the plates the more they will make your hair straight and keep it straight. also look for ceramic plates instead of metal. then i use this garnier fructise milk after i finish styling my hair. its an anti-humidity milk and idk it helps keep the style and keep humidity out.
you have to use a straightening iron, some type of wax or pomade, and hairspray or spray gel. oh, the ills of wavy hair..i feel your pain.
Lucky dog... I wish I could KEEP my hair from straighting. Mine is naturally wavy/straight/curls at the ends. Only way I can do that is hair spray =(
Mine does this too... I've tried everything posted here except the japanese straightening...
