Do You Even Know What Feminism Is?
I found a Lovelyish post that asked if one was feminist or not, and why or why not. I was appalled at the number of women who flat out said hell no! Do people even know what feminism is?
It's a huge shame that women have no idea what they're objecting to, because it goes to make their own lives that much worse. What would we women be without the ability to vote? To work? To escape the confines of subservience to men, as in being lesser beings of existence. Feminists want a level playing field, not one that slopes towards either sex being better and of more worthy than another.
Do you know what feminism really is? Do you consider yourself a feminist?

I know what feminism is and I'm proud to say I am one.
Fuck the stigma that feminism is a bad thing, people are just ignorant.
I 100% consider myself a feminist.
Great post! Without feminism we wouldnt have opinions, choices, rights...
And you're right, feminism isn't saying "Women are better than men", it's saying "Women are EQUAL to men"
well yes feminism, in technical terms, are people who fight for the equality of men and women.
but feminism has so far embodied a totally different thing, and i don't stand for that.
i totes do and i totes am and i totes will be until that equal pay act is fucking signed (or passed or... written... yeah...)!
and then i will be for a long time after that!
Most definitely.
I don't care what ignorant people think feminism is. I am a proud feminist and I stand for the equality of all. If one chooses not to support feminism based on what they see radical "feminists" do, then they are as bad as the ignorant.
i consider myself a feminist. you're right: it is a shame many don't really know what feminism is all about, and that it has enabled women to be what they are today. a lot of blood and sweat that went into our being able to vote. own property, have a choice what to do with out body, working toward equal pay, not having to endure being felt up by pervs art work and subjected to sexist, lewd comments. I can go on. makes me fucking livid people scorn feminists. get educated. wake up. there's still a lot of work to be done. get fucking involved.
I know what it is and I am a feminist.
FEMINISM! YAY
I feel sorry for people who aren't feminists. I guess some guys and gals still wish women couldn't vote. Odd.
@XoAsianBabioX@xanga - agreed.
I stand for the purest definition if the word, most definitely.
Because of some extremists, the word "feminist" has gained a negative connotation, which kinda sucks.
Yes and I do.
I think any girl that says they're not a feminist doesn't know what it means
I'm a feminist and I'm proud. I think women and men should have equal rights. That women are just as capable as men. That women can stand alone and accomplish things on their own without a man by their side. I think women should have the ability to live their lives however they want. I think a women can take care of herself so yea
I'm a feminist
call me butch, radical or whatever other stereotype you have
I consider myself a feminist as well.
I'm not a feminist. I believe in equality, but I hate what feminism has become. Every feminist I've ever met is not for equality, but for feminine superiority. I can't get behind that.
I am not a feminist because it's generally focused on the concerns of middle or upper middle class white women and has a tendancy to exclude the concerns of women of color. I am a womanist.
I already commented on this on your site Michelle, but congrats on getting featured! I still agree 100%!!
wuts wrong with a little female superiority? men used to have that advantage for eternity, i think its about time the females got a turn
i am an egalitarian.
I am and I'm proud of it! Thanks for this post! I still think people who say they aren't are uneducated.
@XoAsianBabioX@xanga - you're clearly ignorant. If you are against feminism, you are against your own rights. Dumbass.
I know what it is and I am a Feminist =) I agree with stupidthing@xanga
@Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga - Because two wrongs make a right, right?
I have been told that a feminist is a woman who fights for the same rights as men.
Im a feminist. But Im fifteen so I dont have many rights to begin with. &No one cares what I say -__-
@Gorrific@xanga - um? What do you mean? I was just congratulating my friend on her post...
