Put Your Shoes in the Freezer. No, Seriously!
So, the other day I made a post about how I was freezing my shoes and a few of you wanted to know what I meant. The above pictures is not the shoes but a perfect example of what I meant. So, here's a quick step-by-step on how to freeze your shoes into a more comfortable fit.
- Fill two baggies about half way full of luke warm water.
- Make sure to seal the bags really good because you're not going to want the water to leak out!
- Gently squeeze the bag into the toe of your shoe.
- Place in the freezer over night.
- Remove from freezer.
- Let shoes sit at room tempature for about 45 to 60 minutes. (I suggest placing them in a sink!)
- Gently remove the ice from the shoe becareful not to damage them.
- Allow your shoes to reach room temperature.
- TRY THEM ON!
- If they aren't the "perfect fit" repeate the process.
This process works for stretching out the entire shoe as well. Why the process works? It's simple, we all know that ice expands as it freezes. Well, as the ice expands in your shoes it's forcing the material to stretch. I wouldn't suggest stretching your shoes to much because the more you wear them the wider they will get.
HAPPY FREEZING!
What tricks do you have for stretching out your shoes that are just a tad to tight?

i might try this. haha. thanks for sharing. (:
This is brilliant. I would just walk around the house in those shoes and really thick socks, but that still hurt!
i would totally try this, because i have a new pair of gorgeous cole haan boots that need stretched, but they're suede and i don't want to ruin them with water :(
It really does work.
Yet I found out that some material doesn't "stretch" as well as others do.
So be careful with the shoes that you do choose to stretch out.
hmm very clever!
I applaud you for being resourceful/relatively innovative here, but holy crud, why not just buy shoes that fit? Unless one is pregnant and having issues with swollen feet no longer fitting into all one's shoes, just buy what actually works for you.
I first saw Michelle Phan's video about this about a year ago.
hmm very interesting. . .since they don't make every shoe for people that need a wide
Great idea. lol
doesn't the water blister the shoes?
ricebunny covered this a long time ago I believe
thanks for the tip anyway
Hmm, cool! I've never heard of this before!
good idea! :)
What a brilliant idea. Thank you for suggesting this- I've got to stretch out some bridesmaid shoes in a few months, and this will be the perfect way to do it!
Haha, this seems weird.
What an awesome idea!
The only shoe trick I know is with cleats and athletic shoes. I put them in the bath tub in warm water and then wear them around, it prevents blisters and is a great way to get them to fit your feet just right.
do u know how to make them smaller?
I'll try it sometime.
wasn't this first michelle phan's idea?
Why do you call them baggies? what is the need for the gies on the end?
Shoe stretchers seem more of a fitting idea.
I'll keep this in mind.. I wish I would have known this when I was younger and tended to buy tons of ill fitting shoes.
@TakingxOverxMe@xanga - me too
great use of science x)
whoa those shoes are ugly.
