Does Anyone Still Shop at Spencer's Gifts?
When I was in high school, we would go to the mall in packs. Our most titillating destination? Spencer's Gifts.
To a 16-year-old, there's nothing funnier and more illicit than pasta shaped like penises, shirts with the F-word on them and creepy statues of the Crypt Keeper from that one TV show.
But the last time I went to the mall near me, Spencer's was cramped into a claustrophobic bottom floor corner, full of shadows and devoid of customers. I couldn't even tell what they were selling these days.
Do you ever get stuff at, or even go into, Spencer's? Did you ever? Do they still sell bachelorette party type products?

I've been in Spencers once in my life. I actually never found it amusing....Just oddly strange. It used to be packed with people, now it's just empty every time i stroll past it. But, maybe that last part was a tad bit of an exaggeration.
i buy some stuff; gag gifts and t-shirts.
most of the time i don't buy anything though, i just look.
I've honestly never been in Spencer's.
i walk through the store when i go to the mall sometimes, but yeah, it's gotten old. when i was in middle school is was extremely entertaining. i dont think i've ever bought anything there.
I've been there a few times when I was 13-14. I WAS SO OBSESSED. Just like I was with hot topic. We thought it was just so cool. Now it's rather mediocre and it doesn't hold much of that magical appeal.
i believe all the spencers in markham / toronto / ontario have been closed down... :S at least that's what i hear y'alll
I really like Spencer's. If I decide to re-decorate my room I will definitely be going there. They do still have the Bachelorette type items.
we don't have one in our mall anymore. :/
xo
it always bothers me how i always see irresponsible parents who bring their little kids into the store. bad influence much?
@ghostcomplex@xanga - hehe a friend and i bought a blow up toy and a phallic lolly as a birthday gift. :]
I used to go there all the time in high school.
i go into spencers everytime i go to the mall. I have a bought belts, belt buckles, underwear, jewelry, and a blanket recently. yes spencers still sells bachelorette items.
@e115@xanga - now that you mention it I don't think I saw the one at Markville when I went on Fri. I still remember freaking out at the book of 101 sex positions
I love spencer's!
Fuzzy handcuffs! :)
I've been in spencer's before and recently too..they have cute keychains and I actually needed one but sometimes I just go in to look around. They still have the bachleorette stuff in there too, cards, etc. =) I think ours is the same size as it was before though, no bigger or smaller, just a little more stuff so more awkward walking around if there's a lot of people
I LOVE SPENCERS! its such a random store just like me! lol
Sometimes I go into Spencer's. My husband is all paranoid someone from church might see us there and I always tell him I don't care and drag him in. That's where we got our first restraining kit after marriage. Ah, good times. And yes, they still have bachelorette party things.
hahaha i go there for shits and giggles
we used to go there for fun as a group of high school kids when we're bored
but now they closed down most of the spencer store
i was introduced to it in high school... only go there for gag gifts
oh, spencer's. what a magical place. i got kicked out the last time i went in there...
@cornyonacob@xanga - you mean the penis pop that he never finished? you'd think the rainbow stripes would make it that much more appealing.
I set foot in one about 5 or 6 years ago. The block at Orange, I think.
To me, it's like a museum of wacky stuff. I could never waste money I don't have on anything absurd in Spencer's. I would like to.
I go to get piercing jewelry or gag gifts. They have some good costumes and belts n things, but it's not my #1 destination. That's Ross. ;]
Spencer's makes me think of my awkward years (11-15 yrs. old), so it kind of creeps me out now. I haven't been in a Spencer's in FOREVER! Not even sure if a mall around here has one...
I bought my Halloween costume there last year, out of sheer desperation. Other than that, no I don't shop there.
spencer's is quite possibly the best store in the mall...
