Would You Trust an "As Seen on TV" Product?
I need advice on buying a product that's advertised on television and I cannot find in the stores. Recently I have moved into an apartment with a 2-3 person soaking tub and would love to turn it into a spa. There is a product by Homedics for a spa bubble bath mat, but it is not cheap. I cannot find any other products like this.
I was shocked after I checked with Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target, Walmart and Pier One. Not one associate knew what I was talking about and had no recommendations.
Have you ever purchased an "As Seen on TV" product and been completely satisfied? Should I deal with the hassle of ordering and being disappointed? Or will it be worth the risk?

That sounds AMAZING.
Do some research and look up product reviews for your bubble mat. If it sucks people are bond to bitch about it somewhere...
Stores like Walgreens and CVS pharmacy usually sell TV products.
yeah! walgreens always has as-seen-on-tv stuff, that's where i get my smooth away! :)
bare minerals used to be strictly as seen on tv, and that works fantastic.
@e_L_a_I_n_e_Y@xanga - loveeeeee bare minerals
never
Some as seen on tv products work, for example; ped egg. However I seem to be having problems with those aqua globes, if you really want that product, go ahead and try it! I know that feeling though, because you never know if any of those things will actually work.
depending on what it is. I'm always curious, but not enough to purchase
It depends on what it is most of the time...
@savingeagle@xanga - agreed!
Chop slap is pretty legit, actually.
I've actually never had a problem with my as seen on tv products, I would go for it.
i bought a straightener that was "as seen on tv" and i LOVE it. it doesn't work as well now that it's a couple years old, but it works awesome.

Thanks everyone for your response on this. I will definitely have to check out Walgreens and see if they carry the product. I have checked out a few reviews, but nothing enough to persuade me one way or the other. I think I may have to just get the product and then I can post again to let you all know if my "as seen on tv" purchase was worth it.
I think it's a hit and miss kind of thing. I guess you can only go off of suggestions and recommendations.
Yeah, i don't think they're very reliable, but perhaps it's worth a shot. i got the "strap perfect" and it's just wonderful!
i'm always a skeptic, but always curious at the same time.
There are a few "As seen on tv" stores in my city, maybe you have a few too where you can check the mats out before you buy?
Skeptical. It's like lottery bascially. Sometimes the product is good and other times not. If you are feeling lucky...go for it!
I always Google the products to make sure they ALL gave rave reviews. I won't even risk one bad review. I also have an As Seen On TV store in my area, so you can check for those. They won't carry everything, it's worth a shot and better than going on a limb and buying something you might regret.
@pinkpeekaboo@xanga - Did you try looking at amazon.com reviews?
Here and Here....here's another review page for the product.
some things are good, others arent
Ever since I was a little kid I wanted a Magic Bullet (the food pro type thing not whatever you're thinking o_O) I asked every christmas, every birthday, "PAPA! plz buy me a magic bullet!", and he never did. to this day i do not have one. But, one day I went on Amazon and looked at the reviews, and it turns out that Magic Bullets suck. Subconsiously my dad must have known this, therefore sparing me the pain~
you should research the product before you buy it. See on the internet if there's not already a complaint forum.
If you are able to find it, try it out, but keep the reciept. Buy it (if you can) at a place that is good about returns. Ask before you buy if u aren't sure. In many malls there are entire "as seen on TV" stores devoted to only those products. I am not sure where u are located but in IL, WI and FL, I have seen them.
