  • Natural Beauty is Dead

    Natural Beauty is Dead

Recently I have been talking to one of my guy friends about what girls are pretty and what girls aren't.

If a girl is wearing makeup then it's not her that you think is pretty it's what's hiding her. I want to see the stars try on their natural beauty and see what the world thinks. But of couse they couldn't do that because not a single magazine would have anything positive to say about them.

Say if Pamela Anderson suddenly stopped wearing makeup, let her hair grow out naturally and removed about 20 pounds of silicon. She would be a laughing stock.  All of the smut magazines filled with nothing but lies would say she was lazy or depressed or something just because she wasn't putting pounds of makeup on.

The reason why I'm so mad about this topic is because growing up (I'm still not grown up), I never thought I was pretty. When I was a little girl I thought I was. But modern t.v. really didn't exist in my house. Then I discovered magazines. I believe my first one was some young teenager magazine, the name escapes me. All the girls in there were "pretty" they were skinny with fluffy hair and a perfect complexion.

I started wearing makeup before I was even in middle school, I never did much with my hair though, I washed it and let it dry naturally. Then in middle school I tried dying my hair but it didn't work because I have very dark brown hair. Another trend started in middle school, the trend that I had to be skinny to be pretty. A stupid trend it was and still is, and I hate myself for it. I started with dieting but I would end up going into binge mode, so then I started throwing up my food. No one told me how to do this; it just came to me one day. I have been bulimic ever since.

Men aren't the ones to blame, not really. Some men are pigs and think they are so hot that they have to have a woman that is as unnatural as a porn star, but really they deserve it. They deserve a girl that spends all of her time trying to be pretty and sleeping her way around the neighborhood because she's so "beautiful."

I've talked to real men, the ones who actually can love a girl for what's inside. I've had 4 different guys tell me that they think I'm more beautiful in the morning than I am after I shower and put on makeup. They like the natural beauty that I supposedly have. And you know what? Maybe they are right; if men can have natural beauty, then girls can too.

I know there have to be other people out there who agree with me and others who think I'm being a bitch, but that's okay because this is America and I can say whatever I want!

Do you think natural beauty is dead? Do you have to get plastic surgery and wear lots of makeup to be beautiful?

Natural beauty is dead in the celebrity world.
But I don't let that stop me from being a natural beauty.
    Screw the fake bitches.  LOL

It's as dead as any other wholesome value.  Which is to say it isn't really, but it might as well be.

I say go ahead with natural beauty! I'm very rebellious from the whole girls have to be pretty play with dolls and wear makeup. I guess since I mostly played with my brother I've been different. But I hate makeup besides eyeliner here and there because I like my eyes looking like fox eyes. BUt honestly I think I look soo ugly with makeup on. Natural is healthy and makes you look good. Plastic surgery is a HUGE no why give into what people want? Why change yourself to please other people? You are fine the way you are! You don't need big boobs they'll only give you back problems and look unnatural.

I hardly ever wear makeup, but when I do I make it look natural

I think I'm pretty the way I am, and people tell me that I look good without makeup, so I don't feel I need it to make me look good.

And I agree sometimes when you see people without makeup in just their natural state, they're even prettier. Like when Paris Hilton came out of jail, and they showed her with no make up on, she was so cute, but when she cakes on the make up she just looks trashy, in my opinion.

  • JoeytheGenie@xanga

    nope. don't think it's dead
still get hit on by a TON of guys when I go out for a run
and im pretty gross and sweaty during them...

  • Sunshine08x21@xanga

Pam Anderson NEEDS to put on gobs of make-up, and she knows this.

But I do agree with you. Natural beauty is dead because society makes it seem that way.

@Nina1981@xanga - Screw the fake bitches. I love that! I stopped wearing lots of make-up around my senior year of high school. My mom thought I was sick at first, and that made me feel a little self-conscious. But I shrugged it off, and haven't worn it since. The most I do is blush, and mascara. With olive oil on my lips and some brown eyeliner if I'm feeling fancy. These days I actually get MORE attention from boys (the right kind of boys, that is). My current guy loves how down to earth and natural I am; he isn't attracted to girls with gobs of make-up who wear high heels every day. Be yourself!

I don't wear make-up hardly ever. Sometimes when I get in the mood I put eyeliner on my bottom eyelid and that's it. Nothing else. I don't even tweeze my eyebrows.

I was having lunch at work with a gay male co-worker who out of nowhere said "Annika, you are naturally pretty. You look good without make-up. You know most girls look tore up without make-up but you have natural beauty."

I was highly flattered. I never wore make-up because I didn't know how to apply it. Then every time I did have someone dabble some on me I thought I looked worse. So I don't wear it now. Minimum amounts of make up look sooo much better than caked on layers.

I think girls who wear a lot of make-up and then trying to go without it not only look different and freak their friends out, which makes them go back to make up. But when you wear tons of make-up for a while your face kind of gets used to it. For example all those girls who have raccoon eyes when they take it off they look dead, because there's still excess eyeliner left over and their eyes are red. If they gave themselves a week to recover from the massive amounts of make-up they'd see how lovely they really look with out it.

Natural beauty is alive. Maybe not in all worlds, but in my world it is.

No, it's not dead. Granted, I live in a rural area with a ton of amish so I recognize that my state's not really a model for how things are everywhere, but I do have myown experiences.

Ever since I was little, people have given me things. They always complimented my mother about my looks (other things too, "oh she's so smart! Oh she's so well-behaved!..but that's not really relevent here atm). As I grew up, they began complimenting me directly...often probably because they didn't get to know me (once people do, they tend to think I'm strange as heck and ignore me/avoid me xD). "You're so pretty." "Ooh, you're so cute!", or "Your hair's so long and beautiful, it must need alot of care, huh?"
My skin's never been flawless enough for many to wonder if I'm wearing make-up either (which, with the exception of halloween, I rarely do).
Now, I don't really regard myself as pretty, or cute, or beautiful...I'm just myself, but this is how my life's always been. I like to think that it's my genetics...being somewhat "exotic" being part native, part irish, part german...with my dark hair, eyes, and skin and typical native features in my face and small irish-german build. Because of the fact that science says beauty in our subconsious is decided by symmetry and our own genes saying "WHOA THEIR GENETIC MATERIAL'S DIFFERENT!"

As artificial as I've ever gotten is nail polish, halloween make-up, and black hair dye (the color of which, barely lasted a whole month).

Now, in fashion and hollywood, yes it probably is mostly. It may even be questionable for some cities as well, but for the country and world over, definitely not.

natural beauty is somewhat dead. at least to celebrities it is. yes i admit i own makeup but not much, maybe some powder,1 lip gloss and one shade of eye shadow. but when i do put it on, its only for special occasions (homecoming, weddings, ect) i never wear makeup to school, but there are girls that just cover themselves up at school (and i go to a all-girls school and i know for a fact that these girls are straight) so idk who the h3ll they are trying to impress. (maybe a male teacher? lol) i also have somewhat wavy, thick hair. and i dont straighten it everyday. honestly i cant even remember the last time i did. I am all for natural beauty and i think its the most beautiful a girl can look. i even had guy friends tell me i look beautiful without makeup.  :D But then you have jerks who care about how much makeup a girl wears.

  • soberheartss@xanga

natural beauty isnt dead, just hard to find.
obvs you dont need plastic surgery/ wear lots of makeup to be beautiful.

this also goes towards your confidence. example. if you're confident enough
you dont need people to tell YOU that you're beautiful. you know you're beautiful
the way you are. without makeup, sweats and hair tied up. that's when you're the most beautifulest.

  • Prayforplagues707@xanga

I don't think natural beauty is dead. I've gone out without make-up on and gotten hit on before and one of my friend's parents wouldn't let her wear make-up until she turned 16 and she looks phenomenal without it!

  • ArielInWonderland@xanga

i've really cut down on my make-up and despite the fact that i have 34B breasts i'm finally becoming happy with them. natural beauty is the way to go.

  • MissPixieGlitter@xanga

natural beauty isn't dead, just under-appreciated. but the make-up's gotta come off sometime, and even boob jobs don't hold up forever.

  • Tastes_Eclectic_Fashion

This is an interesting thing to think about. I think a natural beauty is always preferable to men who understand a thing or two about women. I've met guys who don't think that whatsoever.

I once met a guy who, in my class discussion, said that Paris Hilton was way hotter than Rachel Ray because Rachel Ray was fat and Paris wasn't. Furthermore, he later said that Rachel Ray would be good for something, carrying the groceries in on bigger hips. So yes, some guys are pigs and they want a plastic barbie doll to go to bed with them.

This isn't to say that Paris is attractive or unattractive. That is neither here nor there. The thing is that some people do see beauty as one set thing. Those people are ignorant and will never understand what natural beauty is. There is something undefinable infinite and graceful about being a natural woman. Pounds of make-up and numerous surgeries to alter the genetic material you were born with is not beautiful It is a lie.

I know that I don't like being lied to. I like to think most people feel the same way.

  • SamiiSaysHaii@xanga

If you can pull off the natural look, then go ahead and do it ! I've been cutting down a lot on makeup, sometimes not bothering to put on any at all [or just Painterly by Mac and crappy, unknown-brand mascara that's dried up] and my mom says I look gorgeous [not bragging, I think that I look horrible. I'm just getting to something ahaha]. The funny this is, is that she has never really complimented me on my makeup before. Ever. Maybe twice ?

I envied the girls that could walk out of the house without makeup on and still look pretty. So I decided to try. And honestly, I like it :] there's always someone that loves you no matter what, makeup or no makeup. I will never give up makeup because it helps give me a wee bit more confidence than with none and I just like it.

and I don't think it's dead. Again, it's just hard to find without anything medically/surgically done to enhance it.
  • SliverLines@xanga

in the world of celebrities it's pretty much dead.
but other than that. it's still out there. i'm make up less and beautiful.

  • xueyo@xanga

i still think there are natural beauty in this world. but i do. and i think some needs make up/plastic surgery to look prettier.

    i'm so insecure, i don't think i'm beautiful enough for society. :/

  • Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga

That's a measure of natural beauty - if you can wake up and just look great.

  • xemonmeowx@xanga

hell! i support natural beauty!! they r way better than all the makeup put together~
makeup is only for ppl who cant find their own beauty in their natural body~

  • Murphy_Rants@xanga

Natural beauty isn't dead...a lot of celeberties just don't live in the natural world. I think all us natural beauties knock Hollywood on it's ass...but then again I don't get paid to be pretty or "talented"...sooooo.

I actually like how I look a hot mess in the morning...my hair is all curled and messy from sleeping on it...my skin is always so nice in the morning...pale and even. Most foundations will just irritate the hell out of it. I can walk out with no makeup on and feel amazing...I do wear makeup but it's mainly not much more than mascara since I have clear eyelashes. Sometimes I get fancy with the face contouring. I have huge eyes and full lips so I don't need much. Blush and mascara...eyeliner when I want to be exotic.

Ps. I love how in the "then" picture Megan Fox is smiling for once and not making that stupid lips open snarled "sexy face." I've always wanted to see her smile. It's a pretty face, she should smile more.

  • just__one__me@xanga

I wear a bit of makeup, but most of it's to cover the dark circles under my eyes and the occasional zit. I do wear light purple eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara because I think it looks nice and is fun to play around with. I have been told that I have "natural beauty" before.

I'm sorry that you have the misfortune of having bulimia, that's a really difficult thing to deal with. I've been struggling with it for the past three years. If you ever need to talk to someone, I'm here.
