3 Must Haves for Shining Like a Star

With the global recession still swinging, fashion designers are hard at work convincing people that they need to spend thousands on things like coats because they’re 'investment pieces'. That may be so, but if I had a spare few grand lying around, I would not be spending it on a coat. And I know I’m not the only one.
This is the time where people should aim to be less materialistic and more creative. Thrifty, if you will. Everyone loves a bargain. Better yet is the one that leads to squeals of admiration and jealousy (good for your wallet AND your ego…).
The bottom line is, you don’t have to spend a million dollars to look it.
the hit list
Whether you plum for a pricey label or choose a cheeky copycat at Forever 21 or Primark, these are my three must-haves for shining like a star…
sunglasses
An essential. Get a classic shape that suits your face and you can’t go wrong. Steer clear of crazy patterned frames, colored lenses or shades that clearly say D&C instead of D&G.
scarf
A nice chiffon scarf can completely change your outfit. You could just be wearing boyfriend jeans and an oversized top but throw a pretty scarf into the mix and you automatically look more stylista than slob.
tote
If, like me, you tend to carry your life in your handbag, you need a good one. I don’t mean you should rush out and drop a grand on a Marc Jacobs but if you buy a nasty plastic bag, it’s not going to last. Check out discount department stores like TJ Maxx (TK Maxx if you’re in Ireland) and Century 21 for leather goods for less.

great list!
hmmm.... 3 things on my hit list:
1.) Dark jeans. Dark jeans are more slimming and they you can dress it up or down.
2.) A simple white v-neck. They're inexpensive, and will go well with just about anything.
3.) A big tote bag =] cuz a girl gotta have a nice big bag to carry all of her essentials. You can get them cheap at Forever 21 or on ebay =]

the list above is great! loved it!

i've 4 must haves... tried to cut off one of them but just couldnt decide... :p

1) sunglasses (a classic one that suits my face and can be worn almost anytime anywhere...)
2) two pieces of tank tops, one white, another one in any bright colours (i love layering them)
3) a skinny jeans that fit perfectly
4) a killer heels...in black!

Totally agree with the killer heels idea.

I don't do sunglasses though. My face just isn't fit for them. I do, however, rock the hats. So I need a fedora and a paper-boy cap.

1) Plain white t-shirt
2) Blue jeans and black leather belt.
3) Black leather boots or heavy shoes. Steel toe preferred.

For men it's a bit different since we don't use handbags etc. For me personally though I still think looks on the outside mean nothing. All you really gotta have is 1.) money 2.) money and 3.) money. Key to success in life. (I think so anyway) I've seen tons of popular people with model look-alike chicks altho they're ugly as hell but then I see what kind of car they drive and yeah it's all money money money. Also it doesn't have to be money in terms of cash but you could be wearing a Rolex or some gold rings etc. Expensive items usually give off that 'star' effect.

i agree with the handbag. i can be wearing a simple black tank top on dark jeans, but the moment i wear my handbag, my look is instantly upped.

I can't wear sunglasses, I have glasses :(

These all work for me! I rock a scarf almost daily. I love sunglasses and stocked up this spring even though switching between my eye glasses is a little annoying. I just carry the case in my bag... my very LARGE bags. If my bag isn't a small duffel, it won't do. DSW has some great designer handbags for often half their price, Ladies!

sunglasses are an always kind of thing for me. Not even for style, but simply because you really need them in the desert or you risk damaging your eyes. Not only are sunglasses chic and sexy...but they are a great anti-aging device. :p
Another must for me is ......nothing.
