There have been several occasions when I've heard people judge others because a certain girl was wearing makeup. I can't acquit myself because I also have this tendency to stereotype girls who have layers and layers of makeup on. Admit it. Although not to us, but at least to yourself. Admit that you have pre-judged that person just because she took time to fix herself.
I am offended by this kind of thinking. I personally wear makeup on a daily basis. I would even say that lately, my interest for makeup has come to an all-time high. I take time in grooming myself. Even if I'm fascinated with the artifice of makeup, I know that my intellect is still being exercised. I hate that people mistake people who are interested with fashion, beauty, and makeup to be shallow and superficial. It's stupid, uneducated, degrading, and insulting.
Modesty aside, I'm not an ugly girl and others have complimented me for my looks. But I make sure that when I open my mouth, I match that beauty. I excel in school and can compete with anyone with mathematics problems (I'm a math major). I've seen my share of surprised faces when I tell them that my interests, along with fashion, writing and beauty, is mathematics, education, and philosophy.
This blog is a shoutout to those who have a habit of misjudging us. Even if a girl spends time on her appearance, Never belittle or underestimate her intellect. It is always a case to case basis.
What do you think? Has the society cradled a prejudiced preconception about girls who wear makeup?
