Did You Wear High Heels in High School?
School is starting pretty soon. I'm going to be a senior, so I really want to dress more mature and sophisticated. I'm already doing my new school wardrobe shopping. I was wondering, would it be okay to wear high heels in school? Most of my wardrobe consists of skinny jeans and high heels. I don't want to spend the whole year wearing sandals. I don't wear sneakers or tennis shoes.
Some obstacles would obviously be stairs, the amount of time spent walking from classroom to classroom, and whether the faculty would judge high heels as inappropriate.Did you ever wear high heels in high school? Did you ever have problems with this?

I wore heels once in a while, when it suited what I was wearing.
not in SCHOOL.. maybe outside of school? \
you'll probably be trying to hurry through the hallways
to your next class and trip over your heels or running up
the stairs ?!
I wore heels when I was in high school..Maybe twice. They were the most comfortable heels, but walking up and down the stairs was terrifying!
Personally, I would say yes. :) Heels aren't the most comfortable for a full day of school so keep a pair of flats in your locker or purse. I wear heels any and every chance I get. They kill your back but you get a lot of looks (maybe because of the heel clicking, by hey lol) and it makes me feel more confident. Maybe it will do the same for you. :)
i wore high heels almost everyday. Â aside from actually liking to dress up, i worked a professional job at a law office and was in deca and speech team, so i got used to heels.
I don't wear sneakers or tennis shoes either. I wore heels, sandals, and flip flops during all four years of high school (save in P.E. and during some days in the colder seasons). My main reason wasn't because I was trying too hard; I just felt more comfortable in them than I did in regular tennis shoes, or converses, believe it or not. If you decide to wear heels, make sure you get ones that are comfortable and are appropriate.
Usually not unless I wanted to look really nice that day.
I wore them when I was in high school, but not everyday.
I love heels and wedges. Luckily my high school(s) were one floor schools ... that i until my senior year when I transfered to our "choice" school.
I wore high heels to school whenever I wanted to. I don't see why anybody would have a problem with it unless they were jealous. A simple or semi-jeweled pair of heels isn't going to stir enough controversey for anyone to care. Some people might give you strange looks - wondering why you're "so dressed up" - but the heels are an instant confidence boost...plus you can do that sexy swagger while you're wearing them. ;)
I wore heels in high school once in a while, however I wore flats a lot more. I felt classier and it really dressed up some of my outfits but I was still able to be comfortable and avoid your aforementioned concerns. I think heels are appropriate, but not those boots that zipper all the way to your knees. Those would probably be viewed as trashy.
I can't even walk in those things... plus we have a uniform.
i did in high school. but i have to walk around too much in college.
Sometimes I do.
i wore heels from 8th grade till senior year. about 9th grade i started wearing them every day. there really was no problem with it. noone ever noticed [because, naturally i'm about 4'11, w/ heels i was about 5'2... still shorter than pretty much everyone in my school HAHA]
it only takes practice so that you can walk normally, fast, and up/ down stairs. people make more out of it than it should be. it's honestly not that big of a deal. if you want to wear them, wear them.
Dude, I love sneakers! How could you not wear sneakers?!?!
I wore high heels as many times as can be counted on my two hands as a part of any high school function: 3 club inductions, 3 award ceremonies, Junior Prom, Senior Prom, and my graduation. Never once have I worn them just for the heck of wearing them. It definitely depends on style, I guess.
If YOU wanna wear heels, go for it. But if you don`t know how to walk in heels, then "mature and sophisticated" will be the equivalent of "clumsy and klutzy." Flats and sandals can also look "mature and sophisticated" depending on what you match them with. Remember, practice makes you closer to perfect! ;]
When I was in high school I was a cheerleader and we were required to dress up on game days so I would wear heels and so would most of the other cheerleaders. Other sports teams sometimes did the same like girls basketball. It wasn't really a big deal but then again we were dressing up. I know some girls did wear heels and it was fine...if you were a sophomore or something I would disagree but you're going to be a senior so you're fine. Go for it.
nah, i never wore heels in hs (still don't!) because it's just too much of a pain to take them off and put them on a couple times a day. we have to wear sneakers for gym and closed toe shoes for lab, and we had both of those every day.
besides, heels can give you foot problems, so i really would rather not turn it into a habit
i remember once we had some honor society induction and our principal threw a shit fit because most of the people in my program hadn't bothered dressing up. she called us all into her office for an inspection and sent a bunch of us home to get "proper" clothes to wear... i ended up borrowing a friend's skirt (as i didn't own any, or any formal pants) and wearing it over sneakers. and then we got there and most of the other students were wearing jeans and stuff. ufghgh. that wasn't totally related i guess... haha
I sometimes wore boots with heels, but that was the extent of it. I much preferred comfort over style, so I nearly always was in flip flops or sneakers. However, there were quite a few girls who wouldn't be caught dead without heels, so I guess it was just a personal preference.
you will make a fool of yourself, i assure you.
you're not in high school to dress up. you are there to learn and make something out of yourself.if you want to dress up, see what taste you have, what you like and don't like, but don't go out of your way to feel uncomfortable. and think about it..what would you wear when there's a formal or something? heels? it wouldn't be as impacting if you do if you've been wearing them everyday..I only wore them (during my senior year as well) when i needed to,
for example when i was preforming for school events & etc..other than that. nope,i did wear lotsa heels during summer school tho !
I'm so horrible trying to keep balance in high heels, so the only time I wore them was when I was at graduation... and believe me, ALL of my classmates laughed at me as I stumbled around in our practice
I probably should wear heels since I'm so short... but I'm always late.. so I need to run and heels are not the thing to run in. so its always sneakers or running shoes, or flats :D
At my school we have uniforms that doesn't allow us to wear high heels, or jeans, or shirts that aren't polos, and hoodies that aren't school-issued. So, take advantage of your no dresscode. Wear WHATEVER you want.
I'm going with the "don't try to look older when you're only in HS" argument. Trust me, once you hit uni, between interviews for jobs and internships... you'll have plenty of time to torture yourself in heels! Enjoy your senior year now, don't worry so much about your shoes. If you must wear heels, I'd say, keep them for presentations or for some days, but not every day wear.
