Ideas I Hate: 10 Things I Hate About You, the Series

Bianca: There's a difference between like and love. Because, I like my Skechers, but I love my Prada backpack.
Chastity: But I love my Skechers.
Bianca: That's because you don't have a Prada backpack.

Allow me to rant lovelyish readers; I'm seeing red. Do you guys remember this movie? Yes, they are really making this into a series. Why? I really don't know. The film - which starred Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles- is a remake of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and it's awesome.
So how are they going to recreate the chemistry the original cast had as well as the stellar writing? Who thought this was a good idea? Larry Miller is reprising his role as Kat and Bianca’s dad but everyone else seems to be new.

I’m sure, if done right,this may be good but I have no intention of finding out. I prefer my shows old school; a 90210 with Brenda Walsh in it. I'm sure they’ll find an audience who enjoys it and I’m not knocking that. I am a HUGE Battlestar Galactica fan (RIP) and that’s a remake that many people were upset about. So if anyone watches it on July 7, let me know what you think.

Patrick: Hey there girly. How you doin'?
Kat Stratford: Sweating like a pig actually and yourself?
Patrick: Now there's a way to get a guy's attention huh?
Kat Stratford: My mission in life. But, obviously I struck your fancy so you see it worked. The world makes sense again.

To me, Heath Ledger = Patrick Verona.

I am a fan of 10 Things I Hate About You THE MOVIE. I loved & Still do love Heath Ledger and this series just seems dumb and a waste of time. I'm not gonna watch it, I'd rather watch the movie for the 50th time & I STILL wouldn't get bored.

I didn't see the movie, and I won't watch the tv show. That kind of thing doesn't appeal to me whatsoever.

I'm actually kind of angry about this, it's obviously not going to be good, and it's kind of disrespectful to Heath's memory.

I liked the movie, but not enough to memorize lines from it. Unless I am being tortured or go insane, I have no intention of watching the show.

I watched it a few days ago! And I remember those scenes. Funny stuff. I generally don't jump on remakes. They're expected to pale in comparison to the originals.

i loved the movie. seriously loved it. that's how i got into watching julia stiles and heath ledger <3
with the series..welll...i think it was brilliant how kat and bianca moved instead of cameron, so thumbs up so far...
but...bianca already knows that kat's not a virgin...
i think...
that the tv series's kat and patrick need to really up their game, 'cause from the first episode, i didnt really like it that much...
but im crossing my fingers! hopefully they'll be good!

My question is how are they going to keep the show running? I mean, the movie's premise is only going to last like 10 episodes at the most, if they REALLY stretch it.
Then what? Where is the plot going to go? I mean, last time I checked, Kat was a senior and graduating, therefore going to college in the fall. Are they going to follow her? I just don't see how they plan on creating a long-running series with this.

although i admit that i did catch snippets when i was flipping channels and it was way beneath ABC Family or now a day tv standards...I'm in debate on whether to actually start a petition or find out if there is one to get that show off the air in memory of Heath!

Aww I looooooove that movie!
But yeah I said the same thing about the series: how are they going to keep it going? Where's the plot going to go after 2 weeks? Seriously? At most they could keep it for 1 season and then kill it.
Heath Ledger = Patrick Verona. No contest. I don't like the kids they've got on their now. Larissa Oleynik & Julia Stiles? Yes and yes. The actors they have doing it now don't even look like the character they're portraying. I dunno, I hate remakes in general :\

I do have to admit that that is one of the only chick flicks I like. I freaking loved that movie.
But I think the idea of that tv show is just so stupid. It looks so lame. I agree that they'll never be able to live up to the movie.

All I know is that the new series on ABC family sucks. I watched it on the night of its premiere and it just seemed so stupid with no point to it whatsoever. I mean I love some of the ABC family shows like Secret Life..but this show is just...UGH..

I liked the movie, but don't remember any quotes from it. I did like Julia Stiles, though. I'm a bit skeptical about this series, but then again, I was skeptical about the Gossip Girl series, too. Then I saw the second episode and haven't stopped watching since. So, who knows, this one may surprise me as well.

There were so many things wrong with making this into a series. One of the biggest things that bothers me is the fact that it's coming out how many years later??? That movie didn't need to be made into a series. Ever.

Absolutely loved the movie, and the soundtrack rocked also :) didnt know this series was coming out, doubt we'll get it over here on tv anyway, but I think nothing would compare to the movie in this instance. It was such a perfect cast!!
