Belly Button Ring: Trashy or No Big Deal?
I have had a "thing" for this guy that I recently met at the beach over the weekend. We were chatting on Instant Messenger when he called me a wh*re out of nowhere. Upset, I asked him for his reasoning, which was, "you have a belly button ring."
This made me furious. I responded saying that a belly button ring does not make someone a slut, and he sarcastically responded "Yeah, ok." I just signed off and stopped talking to him.
I did not get this belly button ring for attention or to make me look like a slut. I got it because I have an "outtie" belly button that I did not like, and I thought a ring would make it look cool. I love my ring and I am not taking it out. However, I don't want people to have any misconceptions about me because of my jewelry.
Do you consider belly button rings sleazy? Does it change your opinion of girls if they have one? Do you have a belly button ring? If so, do you get comments like that because of it?

I'm not a fan of them, but I wouldn't say it's because it makes one look trashy.
I'd probably judge her. Not on purpose, but I would a little bit. Though, I think it's just not a smart thing to do if you don't have a belly worth showing off. That makes it trashier.

I love my belly piercing. I got it done on my 14th birthday. I've had a few people comment rudely about it, but once people get to know me they know that I don't fit the stereotype of the typical girl-with-a-bellybutton-ring. I've never had a boyfriend, I'm a virgin, and haven't gone further than making out (= I think that bellyrings are cute..... besides the ancient egyptians used to pierce the bellybuttons of royalty to show that they were upperclass!
I dont have one but I dont want one either because everyone and their mom has one. I like the natural look
I've had my belly button pierced for a good 3 years now and have never gotten any comments about it being trashy or anything of that nature. I don't show it off to anyone (unless I'm wearing a swim suit) or wear rings that are really flashy, just a basic barbel. I don't plan on taking it out; it's kind of one of those things that people are surprised to find out about me. The shy, quiet, bookworm girl has something other than ears pierced.
You shouldn't care what others think of your decisions.
i think that belly rings are the cutest and less sluttiest piercing you can possibly get.
they're easy to hide and PERFECT for the spring and or summer . just be you and i hope you
continue to wear it too , who cares what he thinks or anybody else at that !
I don't see how having any kind of piercing can automatically make you a whore. I will say though that most people I have known with belly button piercings, are pretty slutty, but I thought that about them before I ever knew that they had their belly buttons pierced. What matters is the kind of person you are, not what you have pierced.

and I have one! I love itt and I dont find it to be sleazy or trashy at all. It also depends on the person adorned by it...if you're trashy and have a belly piercing then its gonna look...trashy. But if you're a cute girl with a cute body then it will look classy and cute :) i think its really sexy dont let anyone tell you you're a whore because you have this piercing. its one of the most normal piercings, next to getting your ears done, sooo people need to calm down.

I'm not a fan of piercings, and they do affect my impression of people.

Anyways, on topic, I don't think they're that bad. I think they could be really cute, actually. I have this scar that makes my bellybutton look sort of gross, so I'm thinking of getting one.
I know a lot of girls that have a belly piercing. Personally, I would not get one and I don't care for them. However, I don't automatically assume girls are slutty because of it. That's just stupid. Many of my friends have one and I KNOW they're not slutty or whore-ish. There are plenty of girls without belly rings that ARE slutty. I think with the ring comes a bad reputation though. Almost like a lower back tattoo. :\ Unfortunately, there have been people out there to create that stereotype.

it's definitely how you pull it off. if you have one, and you're a slut, then people will just use the ring as added ammo (perhaps justly ;D), but if you're cute, then i see no problem with it!

I don't think it's trashy or anythin.. I just don't like them. Honestly.. I hate piercings. I have a piercing on each ear and am willing to get another one on each ear and maybe a nose piercing... but thats it.
meh. I wouldn't think a girl is trashy/dirty whatever with it, but obviously you're going to show that pierce off- whether it is at a beach or when you wear clothes that show it off- maybe that's why people think it's trashy, because some trashy girls show their bellies all the time

I would never get one. Because seriously? It's just a waste of money to me. I don't need pierces for my stomach to "look better" (not that any of you girls(guys?) say that, but I'm thinking if you were already pleased enough with your stomach then you wouldn't get one, if you understand my logic). Honestly.it totally depends on the girl and their body.
If the girl is cute and petite then it will look cute.but if the girl is slutty and constantly showing herself off it is trashy.

I have mine pierced. Everyone seems to forget that I have mine pierced haha. I went to the pool and when I was getting ready to get in my friend was like, "I forgot your had your belly button pierced!" I don't flaunt it or anything. If someone wanted to think it's trashy, then so be it. I don't really care about other's opinions.
