Cutting Your Bangs
I get sick of my hair easily. Typically, I have a hair plan and have my perms, coloring and haircuts evenly spread out. But since I currently don’t have a stylist that I truly trust, I have to take care of business on my own every now and then.
Such as cutting my own bangs! I just wanted a little change—so I went to the store and bought some nice hair scissors (and yes, you should use real hair cutting scissors!) and chopped off a few layers. Honestly—it’s just hair. If it sucks, I’ll wear a handband for the summer and it’ll grow back!
Have you ever cut your own hair? Or do you swear by your hair salon/stylist?

awesome...but you don't have bangs.
let me know when you really make a vid about cutting some bangs.
I cut my own bangs... but I do it with plain ole' scissors! It works for me just because they are just bangs, and like you said- I don't have to worry about it too much because I can hide it.
@HerWar@xanga - i thought it was bangs cause they are on her forehead part of her face. What bangs were you thinking about?
My mom cuts my bangs .. and my hair (: I really don't cut my hair until she starts complaining about how long and thick it is. And my mom is actually a very good hair stylist!
I'm really happy with the way my bangs turned out. At first it was too short, but then somehow she made it work! haha sideswept bangs are pretty awesome ^^
I cut my own bangs and trim it some in between cuts. :)
i'm sooooo scared to cut my own hair. i make my hair stylist do everything.
I always think about cutting my own hair, but I never do it all the way. I'd love to learn to cut my own layers one day. I do my bangs for now, but only trimming. Little snips lend no quips! Haha.
my bangs are the traditional no-side-sweep no-layers kind. trim them myself.
I cut my own bangs for yeaaars, it's really not a big thing, but the hair...I don't know, I leave to my mother :D
i don't cut my own hair. my aunty is the only person who has ever cut my hair, i trust her and i always like the way she styles my hair - even though it's usually just layers and bangs. i'm real scared to do it myself. but i give you props for doing it yourself. :)
I had the most amazing hairdresser and then she left the salon and I haven't found one I trust since. Having said that I cut my own bangs and it was a complete disaster! For now I'll just let it grow out and hope I can find a good recommendation!
@joycemiles@xanga - she just cut a some whispy pieces in the front and called it a day. i was thinking more traditional bangs, or at least finishing what she was doing. at the end it just looked like she had really short layers in the front of her face.
never cut your hair the way she just showed you. It will not end up the length you want it, and will look all choppy.
to cut your bangs, pull them out in front so you can see them, hold your finger straight across, or with the angle if they're angled. leave enough hair under your finger that you want to cut off, and holding your scissors vertical, make little snips into it.
I don't like cutting it that way..I hold the scissors vertically and cut that way. It makes the bangs look more natural, I think.
The last time I actually cut my own hair was when I was four years old. I am never doing that nonsense again so I always go to a hair stylist.
and now i'm in the mood for trimming my bangs with a pair of kitchen shears.
She doesn't even have bangs. pssh! she just cut a piece of her hair. anywayyyyss....
It took me nine years to figure out how to properly cut my bangs. The first time I did it, when I was 10, it was an absolute disaster. My biggest problem with cutting them even as recently as 17 and 18 was that I always cut them way shorter than I wanted them. I finally got it right last year.
Generally when cutting my own hair, I just cut it to the length I want it and let someone else even it out. I stopped trying to get it cut in salons since they always make it too short or two long (trim off 1" does not mean that I want you to cut off 3"!)...or try to style it in a way that makes it look extremely bushy. I've lived with my hair all my life and know what does and doesn't work with it. Short, layered hair doesn't work.

I cut my own hair when I was in the 2nd grade... it turned out nice too haha. I don't have a stylist.. I just tell the hair lady to do what I want, and she does it correctly everytime =]
i cut my own hair.
i don't trust stylist, because no matter what they never know what style i really want.
and they always just end up insulting me by going on about the bad stuff about ym hair just so they can sell me their products.
i chop at my hair all the time.
i trim it and even cut inches off if i'm ready for a new style.
so i'm basically responsible for how good or bad my hair looks :) haha.

all throughout middle school i cut my own hair... even the first few years of high school i did my own bangs and layers. but now i'm more busy and cleaning up hair off the ground is a bitch! so i usually only do my bangs and leave the rest for great clips

I've been cutting my own hair for a few years.
When I used to get it cut it would never look how I wanted it to anyway, so I figured if my hair was going to get butchered it might as well be for free/by my own hand. It actually like it now.
i always cut my own hair, i have for years. stylists never cut my hair how i want it, plus its cheaper.
