Crisco as Frugal Face Moisturizer?
Sounds bogus right? Apparently Crisco is the miracle beauty cream. I was reading reviews by women who use Crisco and they said they apply a small layer every night. The Crisco doesn't clog pores or cause acne, according to the reviews.
Here is one blog review about Crisco use on the outside of the body. I found it to be really interesting.
So the question is, would you resort to using Crisco as a facial moisturizer if you couldn't afford one of those fancy department store counter creams?

Agh! I don't think I could stand the feeling. Does it really not clog pores? It seems so counterintuitive!
Lmfao. Suuuure it doesn't clog pores.
no, this is a horrible idea. if you need a on the snap moisturizer use EVOO
Ugh. Bad idea. My ass it doesn't clog pores.
Reminds me of the Scrubs episode when JD puts Crisco all over Keith.
Erm... I'll pass on that one(:
I can't remember where I read this but i heard that it does clog pores and it is deff something you do not want to be putting on you.
i want pastries now LOL.
i want to eat myself.
Ewwwwww, id never do that lol =(
How could this NOT clog pores? Makes me feel ill, looking at it ... I can't imagine it on my skin.
uhhhhhhhno.
Crisco is used to make foods that definitely clog your pores. So I don't think an ingredient of a deadly acne-monster [fried chicken or something] will be very appealing.
here is what is in Crisco:
soybean oil
fully hydrogenated cottonseed oil
partially hydrogenated cottonseed and soybean oils
mono and diglycerides
TBHQ
citric acid
I promise...I looked at the back.
So. Soybean oil is a natural moisturizer for your skin. Unless it was removed chemically, then the benefits are destroyed.
cottonseed oil is prettty much the same as soybean, I think. Good moisturizer.
Glycerides break down oil...they're in soap.
TBHQ is a PRESERVATIVE.
Citric acid is also a preservative and is used as a cleaning agent and it's an antioxidant.
I guess it's probably going to help, but I would be too scared to try it myself. Everything that's in it is mostly beneficial...
llol if someone personally try it and give good reviews, then maybe
Ew this sounds pretty gross. Wouldn't it make you break out?
I don't think I'll be good for your face but if you have dry legs or cracked feet.. I'll be ok. It's kind of like petroleum jelly.
this is as bad as using Mayonaise as hair conditioner about ten years ago. that was gross but crisco directly to the skin? ugh........................
if you need moisterizer but you ran out of crisco, would butter be next or margarine?? O_o oy
ALTHOUGH if you run out of exfoliator, using sugar gently works. NOT salt, but sugar. haahah
i don't really need moisturizer, my skin is fine the way it is with plain old neutrogena sunscreen....
