Mom, Please Don't Talk About My Boobs!
Before heading to Venice Beach for a fun-filled afternoon, my friends and I had to stop by Casey's house to pick up the two girls. The girls were sitting out on the porch with their moms, and we joined them for a pleasant chat. My friend Ryan's dad also came outside to see what everyone was up to. Casey was sitting on her mom's lap and leaning backwards, resting her head on Sandy's shoulder. Sandy lifted up her daughter's t-shirt.
"Look at what Casey just got! She got her navel pierced!!" She announced to the rest of us.
I glanced uncomfortably at the sixteen year old's exposed midriff and thought about how my mom makes me throw away pairs of jeans that she declares are "too low."
"You're like... stripping her naked!" Ryan exclaimed. "Eh, it's nothing we haven't seen before," his dad joked.
Uhhh... That's awkward. lol. In his defense, their families are really close. They've been on countless camping and boating trips together since the kids were little.
"Yeah, it's not as bad as that one time when I was tying Casey's bikini top and accidentally dropped it. That's when Matt's boat pulled up right in front of us. Oh, she screamed!!!" Sandy said, laughing. "But it's alright. Casey didn't have any boobs back then."
(My internal reaction was something like this:
)
Casey didn't seem to mind at all. "I still don't have boobs," she chimed in.
"Well, you had some cleavage with that one dress... but that was 'cause you were wearing those stick-on boobs," Sandy said thoughtfully. "Lexi had those too, didn't you, sweetie? Sweat puddles up in there."
Keep in mind that there were two 19 year old guys and a grown man present. It's hard to imagine the situation with my own mom, but MAN! I think I would be mortified if my mom was talking about my boobs in mixed company.
This reminds me of this one time in 7th grade when I was in the car with three other girls and my friend's mom, who was driving us to school in the morning. "Lauren's breasts have been getting tender," she informed us. "Have yours gotten tender too?"
LOL!!!
Is it ever appropriate for moms to talk about their daughter's boobs in front of their friends??!
