What is Rosewater?
Rosewater is an component of the distillation of rose petals, and a by-product of steam distilling rose petals use for rose products.
Since ancient days, roses have been very popular in its uses for skin. In the present, it is used in
skincare and cosmetic products.
Do not be surprised, rosewater is used widely in cooking, as well as flavoring for sweets and many other food items. However, this is more common for Indian, Middle Eastern, and Persian cuisine.
Rosewater on SkinRosewater is an effective
mild astringent, it is a good form of toner. It helps to
firm and tone skin without drying it, as there is no alcohol content present. This is especially good for more matured skin. As rosewater is very mild, it is recommended for use, not just on dry skin, but on very
sensitive skin. It helps to calm irritated and inflamed skin as well. After my dermabrasion facial, which I do on a weekly basis to remove dead skin cells, I just love how rosewater calms it after the "rough" process.
I use rosewater as a spray mist frequently throughout the day (once an hour, if i remember to). Rosewater makes the skin feel
fresh,
smooth, and radiant with each spray and gentle patting, allowing the skin to absorb it well. It helps to rid pores of grease that causes acne and blackheads.
After approximately 6 weeks of using Rosewater, my skin looks radiant and I am
confident enough to go out without makeup. I now just need to have my rosewater spray with me. It hydrates my skin well and makes it
glow. It is highly recommended for those with dry skin and people residing in dry regions.
For people with
oily or combination skin, the use of Rosewater is good to constantly hydrate the skin because our s
kin secretes oil to moisturize and balance off the skin moisture level. If your skin does not absorb the rosewater well due to an oily surface, gently blot off a bit of the oil with oil paper blotters before spraying on the rosewater. This will help.
You can also make your own Rosewater at home. Try some organic roses though, those without the use of pesticides.
(This is a simple makeshift recipe. Use it if rosewater is not readily available. The real process of making rosewater is more complicated.)Ingredients :
- 10 Rose Buds
- 250 ml water
How to :1) Rinse the rose buds.
2) Put the water to boil.
3) Pour water over rose buds like how you will make tea.
4) Cover the cup and leave the rose buds to soak in the boiling water.
5) Drain it off and allow it to cool to room temperature.
6) Empty contents into a spray bottle.
It will be best to keep it refrigerated. The content is recommended to be kept for a max. 3 days

nice.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing! :)
do u know where I can buy this?
Yeah I don't think I could make it. Is it sold in drugstores? Any particular brand?
I've heard of it being all good for the skin and what not but I'd rather buy something with rose water in it. I'm lazy ;)
i'll try it.
Hmm I've never tried it but it sounds good :D
I'd like to try this. It's kind of hard to find around here, but I know some of the oriental grocery stores have it.
For those of us who live in larger cities, Lush sells a rosewater toner, or at least they used to!
I use both rose water and jasmine water for washing my skin and for cooking. I use distilled water in my home-made recipe. Water straight from the tap can make the final product smell a bit "off" and the boiling makes that problem worse because it concentrates the tap water. I also use a glass pan or cup for the boiling part with the water for the same reasons.
Where can I buy rosewater?
bath .
hmmm rosewater mist. i'll try it :]

i have rosewater liquid soap, and u kind of get sick of its scent after a while. (u can buy it at soap stores)
ive also tried the persian rose icecream, and it tastes really awkward
Many Indian and middle eastern stores carry this. Its used in cooking and beauty routines in these countries.
I am definitely gonna try this. It sounds really wicked.
do you know any american rosewater products? i have a few sample sized OHUI rosewater toners by LG DeBon that i've been using VERY sparingly. it's a korean product and it's kind of hard to get so i would prefer something that i can grab at any drugstore.
I've used rosewater. It really is a great toner. And it smells really nice too. My mom used to use it as a perfume, since regular perfumes would often give her headaches. It's not too hard to find. Look in any natural food or health store, or companies that sell herbal and tea products. Some are quite cheap, too.
Veyr interesting ! I used Rose water and Bleuet water sometimes. It reminds me of my childhood because my grand mother used it !
i tried your recipe
i've only been using it for a couple days, but so far its working pretty ok. it does feel pretty refreshing!
