Hot Hairstyles for Summer 2009?

I'm 15 years old, and I live near the beach in Virginia. I have dirty blond hair that comes to about the middle of my back, and I'm looking to get a haircut within the next month or so.
I'd love to get it cut short to about shoulder-length, but I'm not sure what I should go with. During the summer here, it gets hot and humid and I like to wear my hair natural in summer and keep it easy-to-manage, although I do occasionally straighten it.
My hair type is thick and wavy, and it tends look frizzy and dry because of the humidity in summer. I've got layers in my hair that are just about to my shoulders, and bangs that are grown out to about the tip of my nose now, but I don't want them cut shorter again. I'm trying to grow them out.
My face shape is something of an oval/heart shape.
What type of haircut do you suggest I get? What styles are in this summer?

oh yes. sex.
*to the previous poster* what the heck...??Â
Anyway, it sounds like you have just about the same hair/face shape as me! Only my hair is more on the curly side and I grew my layers out. I'm looking for a good haircut too!!
Shoulder length sounds good. That way it is still long enough to put back into a pony tail if you want. I'd also ask a stylist, since they know better about face shape and good hairstyles with it. Maybe shoulder length with some layers would look nice.
You should go to a good hairstylist that can tell you what's best for you. it's more important than fashion because if it does not suits your face or if it's just too complicated to get ready every morning you'll be disappointed.
Long layers at the shoulders are PERFECT for thick/wavy hair. Mine is extremely thick but very straight so I can get away with chin length, but any shorter than shoulders and your waves will push the hairs in different directions, making it poofy. Long layers are very flattering for heart shaped faces, and surfer babe waves are super easy with this length. Don't go for any extreme layering or 21st century mullet things, just stick to long layers.
I like long sexy hair for summer!
@Miss_MissyMoo@xanga - i do too! since i originally wrote this post about a week ago i've changed my mind and i'm kinda liking keeping my long hair. i get soo many compliments on it.
but i'm still not sure....
@spokemymind@xanga -
Im the same way, I will want to cut it off then Im like no I Cant!! Maybe get a little trim?
@Miss_MissyMoo@xanga - yeaa, that's what i'm thinking now. maybe more than a little trim but i don't think i'm gonna go as short as i originally planned.
@spokemymind@xanga - Yeah I might take off like 3 inches or so, And get something dont with my bangs. Hope it turns out good! It will so don't worry! :)
@Miss_MissyMoo@xanga - Same heree. I only cut it an inch or so. Get rid of split ends if I have any.
Your hair/face shap sounds kind like mine but I have sideway bangs that I cut myself but they are like past my face now, lol... and I never layered it. Everyone compliments me on mine since I just let it grow out. I use to cut it short and it looked alright but everyone likes it longer. I say you should just keep it and cut it a little.
I have the exact same hair as you, except I'm asian with dark brown hair. Ugh--I need a change too.
@Miss_MissyMoo@xanga - so do i and it fits whatever face structure you have and what kind of hair you have as well
plus, you live by the beach, no need to make it complicated hairstyle, just go natural.
we have the same hair type! 'cept I'm a brunette. but frizzy thick and stuff. long bangs. yeahhh. haha.
ask a hairstylist, they're professionals who usually know what looks good. =]
I already had my haircut. I am hoping to grab some highlights
since it's summer, and you might be going to the beach more often... cut your hair to shoulder length. so you wont have to fuss over that long hair and trying to untangle after getting out of the water but will still be able to tie it up when it gets hot.
Maybe you could get a few layers and cut your hair to shoulder length. One of my friends did that and she looks gorgeous.

I vote leave it long, like mine, but if you want the shorter look
