  • QOTD: What Do You Regret Selling Most?

    Question of the Day:

    Louis Vuitton Sonatine

This was one of my very first Louis Vuitton purchases. They've discontinued it since, and now I wish I had kept it. I can't remember how much it cost; $620, I think? Something like that. It's a pretty unique looking bag, and I've gotten a lot of compliments on it.

I sold it two years ago, if not just last year, and I miss it. There are times when I would be all ready to head out with my hand on my hip, wishing I still had this bag! I'm just reminiscing, don't mind me.

Have you ever regretted parting with an article of clothing or an accessory? What is the most expensive purse you've ever bought?

Omg...I do that all the time. One time I gave my cousin this cardigan I never wear and then like 2 months later I was getting dressed searching for it and the remembered I gave it away. Now it's really hard for me to get rid of things because I'm always like what if. The most I ever spent on a purse was $480
  • methodElevated@xanga

$620 for a purse?  You could easily feed a family of 4 with that for a month.  What a decadent waste.

  • Eyes_Herself@xanga

you can feed my family of 7 on that for a month.

  • lanna_loo@xanga

I bought my friend a $50 or $60 Coach wristlett for her 17th birthday last year. I have some expensive purses given to me as gifts- but I can't buy them myself on a $8/hr part time job ...

  • asdfghjkieu@xanga

you're such a typical asian, correct me if i'm wrong.
the most expensive designer bag i ever got would be my Coach bag of $300, and it was a gift from my aunt on my 15th birthday.
it was nice when i first had it but i grew tired of it after 2 weeks because every other rich snobby bitch in the school had one similar to it if not a different color.
i thought about selling it on ebay for some cash but since it was a gift..i kept it in a corner of my closet and didn't even remember that i had one until i read your post.

i wouldn't regret giving or selling away any materialistic things.
unless it has a strong meaningful thing about it then i would.
like a necklace from my ex...etc.

  • whitnijae@xanga

I regret selling my Ipod so that I could pay an overdraft fee before it got any worse. (Hey, I was desperate.)

And hey, don't let these people make you feel bad about spending your money on exactly what you want to. If you can afford it you can afford it. Doesn't matter if most of us can't.
  • estherx1218@xanga

Why is buying an expensive purse an asian thing asdfghjkieu@xanga?
I see white people with it expensive purses too....
    ignorance is so disgusting

people have their own reasons for wanting to buy expensive things just b/c you don't doesn't mean that others should do the same thing

who cares if they can afford it

  • tummee@xanga

lovelyish can reword and write anything in the post submitted.

i dont, nor have ever said, i regret selling this bag or any other bag. i just miss it from time to time. i dont care if every typical asian has it, or that it can feed a family of seven. i like it, i want it, i can afford it, i got it. i donate on a regular basis and i volunteer in charties. i will spend the money i earned however i want, and so be it if its on myself once in a while.

  • spidergrass@xanga

I've donated stuff before and then missed it. Then I say I'm never going to donate again, then I do. Haha.
I love bags but have never dropped serious money on them..I'm more of a shoe girl.

  • Mercredi

@tummee@xanga - You don't have to justify your choices!
I understand that you miss it. (and I'm not asian lol)

  • lachristy@xanga

I didn't think negatively of you when I read this post, but your defensive comment made me feel sad.  Is it really necessary to defend yourself by mentioning that you donate and involve yourself with charities? Let others think what they want to think; you will still have your dignity in the end without having to justify your purchase with the fact that you volunteer and give.  The two should be mutually exclusive, no?

  • tummee@xanga

@lachristy@xanga - i believe everyone has their own opinions and perspectives. it wasnt so much that i was defending myself, but to prove how ignorant people can be. just because people "waste" so much money on such a materialistic item, they are automatically labelled as a "rich snobby bitch"? please. people come too quick to judge. and its human nature.

  • oOBuBBLes711Oo@xanga

I dont regret selling anything bc I havent sold anything but a brand new camera. It was silver and I wanted pink!

I do have a used ferragamo black purse that I wanna sell. Bought it for 900? Ill sell for 200. It looks almost brand spankin new. A few minor scratches, hehe. Its straight, shiny, leather btw.

  • shake_things_up@xanga

i regret selling my virignity.... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    purses....pffft

  • Spyder_V@xanga

@estherx1218@xanga - Look at the author picture. She's Asian.

  • Iris

@tummee@xanga - hey! we're sorry if you didn't like the question we asked at the end of your post. when a writer submits a question, we just use that, but since there was no question at the end of this post, we figured we'd do something along the lines of, "what product do you regret parting with most?" let us know if there's another question you'd like to use instead, perhaps, "do you ever reminisce about an item you no longer have?" and we can change it! hope that helps :)

  • ron_andante@xanga

nothing... i regret buying half the time tho.. :(

  • pure_dasani@xanga

the only things I have ever sold are my textbooks.
I dont have any clothes from high-end stores, so I  just simply donate it if I want to get rid of it. :)

  • WhenHateIsTheOnlyOption@xanga

You spent $620 on a purse?! Someone spent $400.00 on an Itouch, I appreciate it but something less expensive would have been better money wise.

  • MissPixieGlitter@xanga

    so many haters ...
the original poster spends her money in ways she deems fitting, as  apparently do you. that her opinion differs from yours doesn't make it less valid. get off your high horses.

  • mewithoutu77@xanga

the most expensive purse i purchased was a chloe handbag...it was about $700...after i pawned my ex's engagement ring...and i don't regret it one bit.

  • MissPixieGlitter@xanga

@Spyder_V@xanga - the poster is asian, but i think the intent of that question is to inquire why supposedly frivolous behavior is attributed to her ethnicity and to repudiate the assumption freely spending money is a "typical asian" trait when it is clearly exhibited in other groups as well.

  • Spyder_V@xanga

@MissPixieGlitter@xanga - True, but like all stereotypes, it's mostly based on partial truth. Maybe not to the individual, but to some. Sure, if she was any other ethnicity, you could still say "typical _______", but it only shows ignorance, as you stated. I misread your comment, sorry =)
